Job Description English/Spanish Required | Part-Time Independent Contractor (1099) About the Position New Wave Physicians Group is seeking a compassionate, motivated Bilingual Health Coach / Nutrition Educator (English/Spanish) to support our physician-led medical weight-management program. This is a part-time, 1099 independent contractor position with the opportunity to increase hours and responsibilities as the program grows. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in nutrition and lifestyle health and enjoys helping patients translate health recommendations into realistic, sustainable changes. This role focuses on the multiple factors that contribute to successful weight management, including nutrition, physical activity, mindset and behavior change, stress management, sleep, and healthy habit development. The candidate must be fluent in both English and Spanish and comfortable providing individual and group health and nutrition education in either language. Responsibilities The Health Coach / Nutrition Educator will: • Provide individual health and nutrition coaching in English and Spanish to patients participating in our medical weight-management program., • Help patients establish realistic goals related to nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and behavior change., • Provide practical nutrition education, including meal planning, grocery shopping, portion awareness, protein and fiber intake, hydration, and healthy food substitutions., • Provide culturally appropriate nutrition education that recognizes patients' food traditions, preferences, family structure, and socioeconomic circumstances., • Help patients identify barriers to weight loss and develop practical strategies for overcoming them., • Provide ongoing motivation, accountability, and behavioral support., • Utilize evidence-based coaching techniques such as motivational interviewing, goal setting, habit formation, and behavior-change strategies., • Educate patients about physical activity and exercise recommendations appropriate to their individual goals and abilities., • Provide education regarding sleep, stress management, mindfulness, emotional eating, and other lifestyle factors that influence weight and metabolic health., • Provide education regarding vitamins, minerals, protein products, fiber products, and other nutritional supplements within established program protocols., • Support patients taking GLP-1 and other anti-obesity medications with lifestyle strategies that promote adequate nutrition, protein intake, hydration, physical activity, preservation of lean muscle mass, and long-term weight maintenance., • Monitor patient progress and communicate relevant concerns or barriers to the physician and clinical team., • Document coaching encounters, patient goals, and progress appropriately., • Assist with development of patient education materials, handouts, meal-planning resources, challenges, and program content in both English and Spanish., • Facilitate or assist with virtual and in-person group coaching sessions, nutrition classes, or weight-management workshops., • Collaborate with physicians and other members of the weight-management team. Required Qualifications • Fluent/bilingual in English and Spanish., • Must be comfortable independently conducting patient coaching and nutrition-education sessions in both languages., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills., • Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition, lifestyle modification, and behavior change., • Experience providing health coaching, nutrition education, weight-management support, wellness coaching, or similar services. Preferred candidates will have one or more of the following: • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Nutritional Sciences, Health Science, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Public Health, Health Education, Psychology, or a related field;, • College-level coursework or formal training in nutrition and health coaching; or, • Recognized health/wellness coaching or nutrition-coaching certification combined with relevant practical experience. A bachelor's degree in nutrition is preferred but not required for a candidate with strong nutrition education, coaching credentials, and relevant experience. Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credentials are not required. Preferred Experience • 1–2+ years of experience in health coaching, nutrition education, weight management, wellness, fitness, or a related field., • Experience working directly with individuals seeking weight loss and sustainable lifestyle change., • Familiarity with obesity, metabolic health, prediabetes, insulin resistance, and common challenges associated with weight loss., • Experience supporting patients using GLP-1 or other anti-obesity medications is strongly preferred., • Experience with motivational interviewing, behavior change, habit formation, and lifestyle coaching., • Knowledge of commonly used nutritional supplements and the ability to provide evidence-based education regarding appropriate supplement use within established program protocols., • Experience conducting virtual coaching visits., • Experience leading group education or coaching sessions is a plus.
