Job DescriptionDescription: Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Lead Medical Provider. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Lead Medical Provider is responsible for diagnosing and treating individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) at an outpatient opioid treatment program (OTP); determines appropriateness for medication-assisted treatment (MAT), follows the principles of harm reduction, and upholds the mission, vision, and values of Community Medical Services. Along the way, we’ll invest in your well-being through a benefits package that includes: • Subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance, • Health savings account, • Short and long-term disability insurance, • Life insurance, • Paid sick, vacation, and holiday time, • 401K retirement plan with match, • Tuition and CME reimbursement up to 100%, • Employee assistance program to support your mental health and wellness, • Practices within CMS’s standard of care, as determined by the Chief Medical Officer and outlined in the CMS Policy Manual, • Evaluates and performs comprehensive patient evaluations and follow ups; orders medication, monitors patient response, adjusts as indicated, • Reviews state-specific prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) database and documents findings in case notes at each patient encounter and as required by applicable regulations, • Reviews drug screen results, determines appropriateness for confirmation testing, and interprets serology results, • Explains treatment and test results with patients, • Completes referrals and consultations to ensure continuum of care and wholistic patient care, • Provides patient education regarding MAT, OUD, prevention of communicable disease, and other health-related topics pertinent to individuals substance use disorders, • Completes clinical documentation on the same day as the encounter in the client’s electronic health record (EHR), • Ensures all documentation is complete, appropriate, and adherent to CMS policy requirements, • Provides emergency triage to patients in distress, including the administration of naloxone, • Assists the Medical Director in administrative duties, including oversight of clinical workflows and quality improvement initiatives., • Leads or participates in special projects aimed at improving patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency., • Designs, conducts, and documents clinical audits to ensure adherence to medical protocols, accreditation standards, and applicable regulations., • Provides training, onboarding, and ongoing education to clinical staff regarding medical policies, best practices, and new procedures., • Serves as a resource and mentor for staff, fostering professional development and reinforcing a culture of collaboration and continuous learning., • Collaborates with leadership to analyze clinical data, identify trends, and recommend changes that enhance patient outcomes and organizational performance., • Supports preparation for external audits, surveys, and accreditation reviews by ensuring documentation and processes meet required standards., • Maintains schedule of appointments with efficient use of time and is present in the clinic during all assigned hours; is available on-call, if necessary, • Adheres to professional ethics and boundaries at all times, • Assists with dosing and medication services, when neededRequirements:, • BS/MA in Physician Assistant Studies, Health Science, or Medical Science with unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state(s) of employment, • Unrestricted DEA license, • 3+ years of clinical experience preferred, • Active CPR and first aid certifications, • Basic to intermediate computer knowledge, including ability to navigate in electronic health records, • Problem solving, conflict resolution, and strong customer service skills, • Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail, • Ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and copier is required, • Frequent use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), • Ability to use the internet and various web browser software is required, • Frequent use of electronic health record to document patient encounters, • Prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching associated with an office environment, • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard, • Frequent and prolonged typing and operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones #DRPANP About Community Medical Services Community Medical Services (CMS) is a CARF-accredited addiction treatment program providing services in the form of outpatient medication-assisted treatment and one-on-one and group counseling to those seeking help with their opioid use disorder.
