Job Description Title: Assistant Transit Management Analyst Series Department: Subways Authority: TA Division/Unit: Timekeeping Location: 130 Livingston St Brooklyn, NY Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Reporting Manager: Director Deadline: August 3, 2026 Compensation\Authority - Union TA - Non Rep Assistant Transit Management Analyst I $67,933* - $80,421 Assistant Transit Management Analyst II $78,874* - $87,847 Associate Transit Management Analyst $89,162* - $115,445 POSITON SUMMARY: The candidate will support the department's administrative and operational functions by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of workforce timekeeping activities and related records. The position requires a thorough understanding of departmental timekeeping procedures, workforce operations, and payroll processes to maintain data integrity, ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures, and support day-to-day business operations. The successful candidate will analyze and maintain workforce data, identify opportunities to improve operational processes, and prepare reports to support informed decision-making. This role also requires effective collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of payroll information, maintain organized records, and contribute to the department's overall operational efficiency and long-term workforce planning. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform a high volume of timekeeping and payroll-related activities while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with established policies and procedures., • Review and process confidential employee records, including data entry, payroll transactions, pay adjustments, and updates to personnel information., • Create, maintain, and update spreadsheets, reports, and other tracking tools to support departmental operations., • Scan, organize, and maintain electronic and physical records in accordance with recordkeeping requirements., • Process, close, and release weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner., • Generate and analyze payroll, timekeeping, and workforce reports to support operational needs and decision-making., • Respond to inquiries and correspondence from employees, union representatives, Human Resources, Labor Relations, and other internal stakeholders in a professional and timely manner., • Conduct audits of payroll and timekeeping records to ensure data accuracy and compliance with departmental procedures., • Assist with special assignments, projects, and process improvement initiatives as needed., • Provide customer service and support to New York City Transit Department of Subways employees regarding timekeeping and payroll-related matters. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Assistant Transit Management Analyst • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, or, • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience working in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, engineering, in management or methods of analysis, operations research, organization research or program evaluation, personnel or public administration, staff development, employment program planning or administration, security management; or general administration. Associate Transit Management Analyst • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, and one year of full‐time satisfactory professional experience working in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, engineering, in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation, personnel or public administration, staff development, employment program planning or administration, security management; or general administration; or, • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; and three years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above. DESIRED SKILLS: • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint., • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy., • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines in a time-sensitive setting., • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and security of sensitive employee information., • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees and internal stakeholders., • Sound judgment and strong decision-making skills., • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
