You may be delegated administrative tasks by the Clinical Nursing Supervisor to achieve minimum hourly requirements as needed. Must commit to a minimum of 20 to 30 hours per week on average (If workload permits). A minimum of 30 hours per week on average is required for benefits. (20 hours bi-weekly to retain employment status) Administer Infusions and Injections: • Administer specialty medications via IV, subcutaneous injections, or other methods as prescribed by the healthcare provider., • Monitor patients during the infusion process for any adverse reactions or complications. Patient Assessment: • Assess the patient’s medical history, allergies, and current medications before administering treatments., • Evaluate the patient's physical condition and vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate) before, during, and after infusions., • Identify and document any potential risks, side effects, or issues related to the infusion therapy. Education and Counseling: • Educate patients and caregivers about their medication, including how it works, potential side effects, and what to expect during the treatment process., • Provide instructions on how to manage side effects or emergencies at home after the infusion. Patient Monitoring and Follow-up: • Continuously monitor patients for immediate reactions during and after infusions., • Schedule follow-up calls or visits to monitor patient progress and any delayed side effects., • Provide feedback with adjusting care plans based on feedback or changes in the patient's health. Documentation and Record Keeping: • Maintain accurate and detailed records of the infusion process, patient responses, any adverse events, and medication administration., • Document patient education and follow-up instructions, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and pharmacy policies. Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: • Work closely with nursing teams, pharmacists, and other pharmacy staff members to ensure optimal patient care and coordination of treatment plans., • Communicate any issues or concerns regarding treatment effectiveness or patient reactions to the clinical nurse supervisor. Medication Management: • Ensure the proper preparation and handling of medications, adhering to safety standards., • Verify that the right medication and dosage are provided for each patient. Quality Control and Safety: • Ensure sterile techniques and safety protocols are followed during the infusion process., • Adhere to infection control guidelines and prevent any contamination during the preparation or administration of medications. Inventory Management: • Monitor medication stock levels to ensure adequate supply of specialty medications and other infusion-related supplies., • Coordinate with the pharmacy team to manage inventory and ensure the availability of needed medications. Support for Specialty Medication Services: • Offer support for insurance verification or authorization processes related to specialty medications. POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for recommending and providing appropriate care to all staff and campers. Must provide care and administer treatment in accordance with the NYDOH, GSUSA, HIPAA. Actual salary will be based on applicant’s experience ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Develops professional goals for the summer that will help support and meet GSWNY’s mission and camp goals., • Maintain health records for each camper and staff member via Camp Doc, • Administers first aid as necessary., • Dispenses medication prescribed by physician to all campers and staff., • Provides first aid in case of an accident and follows individual camper standing orders in case of illness., • Takes responsibility for calling camper’s parents and/or physician when warranted., • Maintains accurate records in bound notebook of all sick calls., • Maintains and secures confidentiality of all health forms in compliance with HIPPA. The health supervisor and the Camp Director/Director of Camp Administration have the only access to these securely locked medical records. Decisions to release medical information to other staff members will be based on the camper’s needs and parents’ authorization., • Models and teaches good health practices for all staff and campers., • Supplies and maintains first aid kits for specified areas in camp and for out of camp trips and hikes., • Refers campers and staff to physician’s care at clinic or hospital, with approval of Camp Director and camp physician on call., • Confers with parents as necessary., • Screens incoming campers for any illnesses, infections, bruises, rashes and other health concerns., • Notifies the appropriate staff members of camper allergies, medications and health concerns., • Establishes a system for health screening for arriving campers and staff, as well as a system for health screening for trips out-of-camp., • Conducts an inventory of supplies and places orders when necessary, ensuring the timely arrival of supplies., • Participate in and lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health and safety, including, but not limited to standard precautions, how to administer aid and what type of aid needs more then general first aid., • Consult with the camp physician on call regarding camper and staff medical health., • Responsible for the safety and well-being of campers and staff while in the infirmary., • Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitized infirmary at all times., • Expected to stay on camp property while camp is in session, including pre-camp training and closing of camp., • Assists in the Wednesday overnight coverage when deemed necessary, • Participates in camp activities when possible and helps with pre-camp training, open house and post camp., • Apply behavior management techniques to conflicts with children., • Report incidents/accidents to supervisor immediately., • Report suspected child abuse to supervisor immediately., • May need to act as bus aide at some point during the summer day camp season (will receive additional pay), • If acting as bus aide, • Must meet the bus at the terminal or first bus stop in the morning., • Take a head count of the campers every day during the morning pick-up and evening drop-off and maintain safety and orderliness on the bus., • Report absent campers to the Assistant Camp Director every morning and evening., • Assure that a parent or other designated adult meets campers before the bus drives off by utilizing the camper pick-up form., • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality;, • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving including attending the weekly Wednesday overnight program., • The acceptance and understanding that employment is at a day camp.
