Job Description Our client, a large, well known law firm in Newark NJ is looking for a trust & estates paralegal to join their growing firm. This is a permanent position with great benefits. This role is fully onsite for the first 30 days then scales down to a hybrid model, with three office days per week. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Trust and Estates Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience and possess strong knowledge of estate planning, probate, and trust administration processes. This role involves working closely with attorneys and clients to manage all aspects of estate and trust matters from inception to completion. Key Responsibilities: * Assist attorneys with the preparation and review of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. * Manage probate administration, including preparation and filing of court documents, inventories, accountings, and related pleadings. * Coordinate trust administration activities, including asset transfers, beneficiary communications, and trustee support. * Conduct legal and factual research related to estate and tax matters. * Review financial statements, asset valuations, and related documentation for estate planning and administration. * Liaise with clients, financial institutions, and government agencies (e.g., IRS, courts, etc.) on behalf of attorneys. * Maintain and organize client files and case management systems to ensure timely handling of matters. * Monitor deadlines and court schedules to ensure compliance with procedural rules and timelines. Qualifications: * Minimum Education: Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred). * Experience: Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience with a focus in trust and estates law. * Strong understanding of probate court procedures and estate/trust administration practices. * Familiarity with relevant software (e.g., Microsoft Office, estate planning software, document management systems). * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment. * Certification from an accredited paralegal program or professional organization (e.g., NFPA, NALA) is a plus.
