Job Description Paralegal – Guardianship & Conservatorship (with Probate & Estate Planning Support) Location: Atlanta, GA | Full-Time, In-Office Position Overview: We are seeking a Paralegal with strong experience in guardianship and conservatorship matters, particularly those involving adult clients. This role will primarily focus on assisting attorneys with guardianship and conservatorship filings, client communication, and case management. Secondary responsibilities will include supporting probate and estate planning work as needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, empathetic, and capable of managing sensitive cases with care and efficiency. Schedule & Location: • Full-time, 40 hours per week, • Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, • This is an in-office position at our main office location based in Atlanta, GA, • Prepare and file petitions for adult guardianship and conservatorship in Georgia probate courts, specifically metro Atlanta counties, • Manage timelines, court deadlines, and correspondence related to guardianship cases, • Coordinate and track service of process, court hearings, and court-ordered evaluations, • Work directly with clients and their families to gather necessary documentation and provide updates, • Maintain organized and detailed electronic case files in a paperless system, • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients during emotionally challenging times, • Anticipate and escalate time-sensitive or urgent legal issues appropriately, • Ensure compliance with court rules, filing procedures, and firm protocols Secondary Responsibilities – Probate & Estate Planning: • Assist with the preparation and filing of probate petitions and related documents in Georgia probate courts, specifically metro Atlanta counties, • Draft standard estate planning documents, such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, • Support attorneys in proofreading documents for accuracy, • Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing client communicationQualifications:, • Some college required; degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience, • Minimum 2 years of experience in a law firm setting, handling adult guardianship and conservatorship matters, • Experience with probate and estate planning is a plus, • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office Suite, and Mac OS, • Familiarity with Daylite, WealthCounsel, or ElderCounsel is beneficial, • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills, • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively, • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion, • A motivated, compassionate team player with a strong desire to help clientsAbout Company Hurley Elder Care Law is a client-centered elder law firm dedicated to helping families navigate the legal and emotional challenges associated with aging.
