Job DescriptionM/E Engineering (now Salas O’Brien Consulting and Engineering Group of New York, Inc.) is interviewing for an HR Generalist position based in our Rochester, NY office to support our growing company. We are a full-service MEP engineering firm providing design and technology services to our clients. This role offers a balance of close collaboration with the Director of Human Resources as well as independent work. This role supports the human resource function in all three offices (Rochester, Buffalo, and Schenectady, NY). As a result, some regular travel between offices is required. This is a hybrid role with four days of in-office attendance per week. Responsibilities • Serves as a first point of contact for basic employee questions and concerns regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits with assistance from the Director of Human Resources., • Coordinates onboarding for new hires, including orientation, scheduling, paperwork, and technology setup in collaboration with IT and department managers. Hosts onboarding and assists new hires in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources., • Assists the Director of Human Resources with exit interviews and supports offboarding procedures, including coordination and delivery of exit paperwork., • Assists with benefit enrollments, qualifying events, and health and welfare benefit questions in partnership with the Salas O’Brien benefits team and the Director of Human Resources., • Assists employees with leave of absence questions (FMLA, PFL, and disability) and ADA accommodations in compliance with federal and state laws with support from the Director of Human Resources., • Acts as a liaison with our benefit team and EEO-1/VETS100, and 5500 reporting vendors., • Assists the Director of Human Resources on employee relations policies and practices., • Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records., • Assists in coordinating biannual performance review processes, annual training, and contributes to employee development initiatives., • Assists the Director of Human Resources with administrative tasks, continuous process improvements, and creation and maintenance of procedures., • Assists hiring managers in interviewing and selection processes and provides honest feedback on candidates., • Recommends process improvements in HR policies and practices., • Attends seminars/webinars and other networking events for current trends and information sharing., • Performs all other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience, • Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred., • Two - three years of experience in a human resources role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite., • Working knowledge of and state and federal employment laws including FMLA, ADA, EEOC, DHR, ACA, and ERISA., • Ability to prioritize and follow up on project plans/tasks with minimal supervision., • Excellent interpersonal communication, critical thinking, confidentiality, and project management skills., • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment., • Ability to travel between our Buffalo, Rochester, and Schenectady, NY offices on a quarterly basis., • Ability to travel for attendance at career fairs or other industry events., • Valid driver’s license.Compensation Powered by JazzHR 6iMB0NRqzi
