About the Role Peer Specialist are former residents who have moved from Transitional Residence for Veterans and who are successfully employed and living in permanent housing. They participate in the coordination of services and model the behaviors needed to move to permanent housing. They provide advocacy and counseling support to the residents. This position is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, repair, and appearance of the Roy Wilkins Recreation Center and its associated spaces. Job Description Centers Adult Day Care is actively seeking a Recreation Aide to work Part-Time for our facility, Richmond Center, located in Staten Island, NY. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with the elderly. included in the position are certain clerical duties as well, so previous clerical related experience is ideal. DUTIES: Assist department staff with the implementation of activities and programs for Residents; focusing on individual interests Work directly with Residents on units Assist [Recreation Director] and set up, [implement, and clean up] programs as needed Organize and obtain supplies and equipment as requested Assist recreation specialists & set up program areas as needed Keep daily attendance and document residents’ participation in activities Assist residents to program location and return residents to appropriate units Collaborate with Recreation Director to create/modify the recreation calendar and coordinate with outside parties to implement recreational activities. Doctor’s appointment form, incident reports, etc., • Correctly documenting Personal Spending, Petty Cash, groceries, etc. immediately after an item is purchased, • Reading staff meeting minutes, • Meeting with team leader periodically for open communication Qualifications and Skills: • High school diploma or equivalent required, • Previous experience in supporting people with disabilities is a plus, but not required with other relevant experience, • Basic computer literacy to complete case notes and timesheets, • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, • Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential Rate: $19.69 per hour Benefits: Work/Life Assistance Program (EAP), ability to contribute to pre-tax commuter and medical FSA plans, 403b pension with employer match after two years of employment.
