American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Work in a 31-bed telemetry unit within an acute care hospital, • Patient ratio is 1:4 on the telemetry unit, • Patient population includes post-pacer, hemodialysis, stepdown from ICU, surgical, urology, oncology with cardiac needs, stroke, TBI, and high acuity cases, • Handles patients with complex needs including sepsis, PEG tubes, and chronic wounds, • Utilizes Cerner EMR; prior experience preferred, • Uses Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment, • Required to work 12-hour day shifts (7:00-19:30), every other weekend, with floating as the first to float within related units, • May float to other units such as Med Surg with remote telemetry, Med Surg SW, ICU for telemetry holds, or ER holds, • Block scheduling permitted if unit needs allow but not guaranteed, • On-call standby may require reporting within 30 minutes, • Orientation includes 1-2 floor-specific shifts with a preceptor, • Expected to work at least one major and one minor holiday as part of the holiday rotation, • Team structure includes a shift manager, resource nurse, and nurse aides supporting both day and night shifts, • Dress code requires navy blue scrubs; jackets and undershirts must be navy, white, or black, • Hospitalist or intensivist available with on-call coverage after hours, • CPAP/BiPAP use managed by respiratory therapy, which is available 24/7, • Omnicell pharmacy support available at all times, • First time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n, • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience, • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms, • Experience with high acuity telemetry patient care, • Two professional references required (one supervisor within past 12 months, one peer or supervisor within past 3 years with dates of employment and rehire eligibility), • Copy of driver’s license required, • Must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities in the past 12 months\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
