Job title: Entry Level Lumber Yard Associate Pay: Starting at $20.42- $24.76 an hour, depending on experience Schedule: Monday-Saturday 7:00am to 5:00pm, with a rotating day off in the week. Location: Tacoma, Washington Lumber Yard Associates are responsible for providing legendary service by safely and efficiently loading customer vehicles with building materials. The Lumber Yard Associate is also responsible for keeping the yards clean and stocking inventory. This position reports to the General Manager and works closely with external and internal customers. Qualifications • OSHA Certified Forklift License preferred, • Ability to speak, write, and read English required, • Knowledge of receiving/inventory control principles, practices and protocols, • Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials, • Ability to read and interpret "picking tickets" and invoices, • Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment, • Safely, accurately and efficiently load customer vehicles with orders of building materials, • Ensure that appropriate paperwork is completed as per company policy, • Receive delivered inventory by properly inspecting paperwork for accuracy and by depositing inventory in designated locations, • Inspects stock and returned items to ensure salable quality, • Puts stock away in the correct location and nicely, • Provides required paperwork for change orders, • Completes inventory adjustments, • Participates in inventory preparation and post procedures, • Reads and follows instructions on picking tickets, • Opens and closes warehouse and yard when necessary, • Complete online training as necessary, • Seeks to learn products and applications and attends product knowledge meetings, • Knows product locations in the yard and warehouse, • Ability to read a measuring tape, • Understands product terminology and grading, • Keeps forklift clean, • Maintain yard cleanliness during course of work, • Adhere to company procedures, policies and protocols as set forth in the Employees Handbook Wears high visibility, safety gear, and proper uniform, • Performs daily lift inspections, • Always looks behind/honks horn when backing/rounding blind corners, • Safely operates equipment, • Promptly report all accidents/incidents and damaged products, • Perform daily safety audits of forklift and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment, • Keep aisles and exits clear, • Attaches red safety flag to over-length product, • Participates on safety committee if needed, • Understands weight, height, and length limits to inform customer of being able to safely handle or transport material, • Consistently follows safety protocols, • Quickly greets and assists all customers, • Reviews and completes hold harmless form with customers, • Shares product knowledge with customers Physical Requirements • Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs., • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, • Everyone starts earning 2 weeks of vacation per year on day 1, and gains an additional day every year worked up to 4 weeks off, • Employee paid sick days, • 7 holidays, • Standard medical plan with a very low $1,000 deductible, • Dental, Vision, EAP (Employee Assistance Program), • Massage, Chiropractic and Acupuncture coverage, • FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and Childcare pretax spending programs, • Footwear subsidy through boot vendor after 90 days of employment, • Up to 50% match on the first 6% you contribute to your 401(k) after 1 year of employment and fully vested at the end of your 3rd year, • In addition to the 401(k) match, there a 3% profit share contribution to the 401(k), with Board approval, • Tuition reimbursement (up to $2,500/year), • Annual profit sharing (every full time employee who worked the full year earned a minimum of $525 for the 2024 year) We have a transparent pay structure, and love to promote from within.
