Job Description Job Title: Electrical Wireman / Electrical Assembler Job Description This role focuses on assembling and wiring custom-engineered electrical switchgears, motor control centers (MCCs), and related electrical systems in a manufacturing environment. You will build and wire panel boxes and switchgears, working with both low-voltage and medium-voltage systems, while following blueprints, schematics, and three-line diagrams to ensure high-quality, reliable products. Responsibilities • Assemble and wire electrical panel boxes, switchgears, and related electrical systems for low-voltage and medium-voltage applications., • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, work orders, specification sheets, and three-line diagrams to complete assemblies accurately., • Run, route, and bundle wires according to diagrams and layouts, ensuring proper organization, labeling, and adherence to standards., • Connect cables, crimp wires, and terminate conductors using appropriate tools and methods to ensure secure and reliable connections., • Install communication and data cabling, including CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cables, in accordance with specifications and best practices., • Use personal hand tools and power tools to build and assemble electrical enclosures, switchgear structures, and related mechanical components., • Install breakers, components, and accessories within electrical panels and enclosures as required by design and customer specifications., • Execute change orders and design updates as needed, adjusting wiring and assembly work to reflect revised drawings or customer requirements., • Perform quality checks on completed work, verify proper wiring and component installation, and assist with root cause analysis when issues arise., • Collaborate with mechanical assemblers, electrical assemblers, and quality control personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects., • Work safely at heights using ladders under 10 feet when required for assembly or wiring tasks., • Use basic computer skills, including reading electronic work orders and documents, and updating information as needed., • Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to other electrical assemblers, sharing best practices and helping to train less experienced team members., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety policies and using required personal protective equipment. Requirements • 2+ years of electrical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints and three-line diagrams., • Hands-on experience with electrical wiring of panels, switchgears, and electrical enclosures., • Ability to install and route CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cables., • Capability to read and understand specification sheets and work orders., • Experience performing quality checks on electrical assemblies., • Ability to work at heights on ladders less than 10 feet off the ground., • Basic computer knowledge, including working with electronic documents and simple software tools., • Proficient use of hand tools and power tools for electrical and mechanical assembly work., • Familiarity with electrical panels, breakers, and switchgear components., • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed diagrams and instructions., • Demonstrated initiative and reliability in a production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 4+ years of experience assembling large metal boxes, electrical enclosures, or electrical switchgears., • Experience working with electrical enclosures and NEMA-type enclosures, • Experience with electrical switchgear manufacturing environments., • Ability to perform root cause analysis when quality or wiring issues arise., • Experience teaching, guiding, or mentoring other electrical assemblers., • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical assembly processes., • Comfort working with Microsoft Word or similar software for basic documentation., • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset. Work Environment The role is based in a modern manufacturing facility that is one of several sites in the area and is the newest and most up to date. The shop includes multiple divisions and sections, with this position working in a single clean, organized bay that is climate controlled to approximately 74°ree;F. Around 30 people work in this section, including mechanical assemblers, electrical assemblers, and quality control staff, while the overall site employs more than 200 people across assembly, fabrication, paint, and other operations. The environment is production-focused yet orderly, with clear workflows and defined work areas. The position follows a day shift schedule, typically Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to achieve 40 hours over four days. Additional hours may be scheduled depending on production needs, often including Fridays from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or shorter, and occasional Saturdays from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or shorter, with recent workloads averaging around 50 hours per week. Required attire includes steel-toe footwear, work pants, work shirt, and safety glasses, with all necessary safety practices and protective equipment enforced to maintain a safe and professional work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77061. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
