As Principal Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology, you will provide scientific leadership for in vivo pharmacology efforts across multiple discovery programs. You will drive the strategy and execution of robust animal models to enable compound screening, mechanism-of-action studies, and IND-enabling programs. Responsibilities • Model Development: Design, develop, and qualify translational animal models (including genetically engineered models) specifically in rodents (mice and rats) and primates to support screening and pharmacology profiling., • CRO Management: Lead the selection, onboarding, and scientific oversight of Contract Research Organizations (CROs), particularly for the execution of high-complexity primate studies., • Study Strategy: Lead study design, execution oversight, and rigorous analysis of pharmacology data to drive program progression and candidate selection., • IND & Regulatory Support: Lead and oversee IND-enabling studies; partner with Regulatory Affairs to author and review technical reports for FDA submissions., • Specialized Delivery & Formulation: Drive specialized in vivo delivery approaches, including subcutaneous and oral delivery methods, and collaborate on formulation strategies for optimal drug performance., • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Global Biology, Chemistry, DMPK, Safety, and Formulation to deliver preclinical candidates with desired pharmacological properties., • Innovation: Evaluate and implement innovative technologies and platforms that increase rigor, throughput, and translational relevance in drug discovery., • Mentorship: Provide scientific guidance and technical mentoring to junior staff and project team members to ensure timely, high-quality, data-driven program decisions. Qualifications • Education: Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Biology, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field., • Experience: 5–8+ years of relevant industry experience in a drug discovery environment., • Therapeutic Expertise: Deep expertise in animal models and assays relevant to Diabetes and Cardiology., • Technical Skills: Must have demonstrated experience working with rodents (mice and rats) and primates (NHP), as well as the application of genetically engineered models., • External Partnership: Proven track record of managing external CROs for the successful execution of NHP/primate pharmacology and safety studies., • Regulatory Knowledge: Direct experience overseeing IND-enabling studies and interacting with regulatory bodies (FDA)., • Communication: Excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex findings to senior leaders and external partners., • Aptitude: A collaborative, scientifically rigorous individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and manages multiple priorities with structured problem-solving.
