Details\n \n • Acute care ICU float pool position covering a combination of ICU types (MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU, etc.) across multiple facilities within Zone 1, centered around Colorado Springs, CO\n, • This is a float pool role with no home base facility; travelers are assigned to a specific facility each schedule block and must be able to float throughout the full 60-mile zone\n, • Facilities within Zone 1 include locations in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, CO, and Canon City, CO\n, • Schedules are released 4–6 weeks in advance and may follow a single-facility format for the week or a just-in-time (JIT) format, where the facility is assigned 1–2 hours before shift start\n, • Night shifts, 12-hour shifts (7p–7a)\n, • 6–9 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule\n, • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1–2 depending on acuity; may be asked to flex up to 1:3; high-acuity patients (e.g., CRRT, IABP, Impella) are staffed at 1:1\n, • Floating within the zone may include ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and Med-Surg Telemetry assignments\n, • No monitor technician on unit; RNs are expected to independently read and interpret telemetry strips\n, • No nurse aides on unit; CNAs present for sitter needs only\n, • Designated charge nurse per unit who typically does not carry a patient assignment, though night shift charge nurses may occasionally take a small assignment\n, • Respiratory therapy (RT) is designated for the ICU but may not be present on the unit 24/7; RNs are expected to assist with troubleshooting and managing respiratory needs\n, • RT equipment includes ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and nebulized breathing treatments\n, • EMR: Epic\n Requirements\n \n, • Active CO RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license currently in hand; pending licenses are not accepted\n, • Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS; pending certifications are not accepted\n, • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required\n, • First-time travelers must have 3+ years of ICU experience and prior Epic experience\n, • Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin\n, • Candidate must reside more than 60 miles from the Colorado Springs city center (permanent address verified via driver's license)\n, • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire\n, • A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n, • Candidates must be physically present in Colorado for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely\n, • Orientation consists of 1–2 days with a preceptor (12 orientation hours total)\n, • All time-off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment\n, • Travelers may be asked to participate in holiday rotation coverage\n, • On-call/standby is rare and typically only occurs due to low census\n, • Scrubs of any color are accepted\n, • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered\n, • Prior travel experience is preferred; first-time travelers are considered if they meet the elevated experience requirements\n, • It is the traveler's responsibility to secure housing that allows them to float throughout the full 60-mile zone\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-733131.
