The Peer Coach Navigator plays a vital role in turning those beliefs into action by providing peer driven, person-centered support to individuals navigating substance use challenges, homelessness, and related barriers. Drawing upon personal lived experience, the Peer Coach Navigator builds authentic, trusting relationships that promote hope, empowerment, and recovery-oriented growth. This position engages participants through one-on-one and group-based peer support, assists with recovery planning, and connects individuals to community and agency resources that strengthen recovery capital and overall stability. Peer Coach Navigators collaborate across various program areas such as Outreach, Justice, Recovery Housing, Walk-In, and Warming/Seasonal Shelter services to ensure that each participant receives consistent, individualized support. The Peer Coach Navigator also upholds professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards, maintaining accurate documentation and meeting program compliance requirements in accordance with agency and funder expectations. Through empathy, accountability, and a deep respect for multiple pathways to recovery, the Peer Coach Navigator helps participants take meaningful steps toward wellness, self-sufficiency, and sustained recovery. Essential Job Functions Direct Support • Provide one-on-one peer coach navigation sessions delivered in person, virtually, by phone, or via text., • Facilitate peer-led groups designed to build recovery skills, mutual support, and resilience., • Demonstrate and respect that there are multiple pathways to recovery., • Primary program areas of focus may be: Outreach, Justice, General Support, Walk-In, Recovery Housing and Warming Shelter depending on preference, skill set and agency need. Additional lived experience may be needed depending on primary program focus. Program & Community Support • Support Hope COS programs such as Warming/Seasonal Shelter, Justice Program, Recovery Housing, and Street Outreach by welcoming participants, distributing resources, organizing donated supplies, and assisting with food distribution and cleanup of program spaces as needed., • Collaborate with healthcare settings, carceral settings, treatment centers, shelters, and community partners to facilitate timely referrals and placements into treatment, sober living, recovery support providers, or other essential services, as directed by leadership., • Refer family members and loved ones to appropriate supports and resources. Documentation & Compliance • Maintain accurate participant records, including:, • Brief check-ins,, • Recovery Capital Assessments (as recommended and on schedule),, • Engagement logs, and, • Recovery Management Plans with ongoing follow-up., • Accurately log all data and documentation in Hope COSs database in accordance with agency SOPs and funding requirements. This may include uploading files, tracking outcomes, and explaining data collection to participants., • Ensure all documentation required for Medicaid billing is completed thoroughly, accurately, and on time when providing services that are Medicaid-reimbursable., • Facilitate services in compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality requirements, and state/federal standards. Professionalism & Development • Participate in ongoing recovery coach training, professional development, supervision, and performance support., • Provide shadowing, mentorship, and training opportunities for new volunteers, interns, and staff coaches., • Adjust hours of work as needed to meet organizational and community needs., • Consistently and accurately complete timesheets., • Perform duties in a professional manner at all times, complying with the Peer & Family Specialist and NAADAC Code of Ethics, Hope COS values, and professional standards., • Participate in quarterly goal setting with supervisor., • Attend team meetings and contribute to program evaluation and curriculum development., • Other duties as assigned to support Hope COSs mission. Education & Experience • High school diploma or GED required., • Completion of Peer Coach Academy (minimum 60-hour Recovery Coach Training) required prior to hire. Certifications required: Recovery Coach Academy (30 hours) Ethical Considerations (16 hours) Plus one more (16 hours), • Must be actively completing or have completed the 500 supervised coaching hours required for Peer & Family Specialist credentialing., • Preference given to candidates who already hold their active Colorado Peer & Family Specialist (CPFS) credential., • This position is a Peer-based role and is not the same as a Qualified Behavioral Health Aide (QBHA) position. Hope COS recognizes Peer support as a distinct discipline rooted in lived experience and walking alongside individuals while they discover their own journey of recovery. Qualifications • Lived experience with substance use disorder and recovery. Two (2) or more years of continuous sustained recovery from substance use disorder., • Awareness of critical topics: harm reduction, naloxone training, community resources, and disease prevention., • Knowledge of key success areas:, • Self-Care: recovery support, spiritual, emotional, physical, social, mental, professional., • Interpersonal Skills: distress tolerance, leadership style, self-confidence, openness to feedback, positive attitude., • Time Management: effective scheduling, calendar use, proactive communication with supervisor, appropriate scheduling of time off., • Stewardship: wise use of resources and thoughtful decision-making aligned with organizational priorities., • Knowledge and understanding of Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, Trauma-Informed Services, and Motivational Interviewing., • Commitment to ethical standards, professional conduct, and continuous improvement consistent with Hope COS values., • Strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills: resilience, empathy, positive communication, receptive to feedback., • Effective time management and ability to work both independently and in a team. Physical & Other Requirements • High comfort with computer-based programs, including database entry, virtual video platforms, and other standard office technology., • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, including use of stairs. Walking or spending time in harsh climates or rough terrain may be required, depending on program focus area., • Reliable transportation is required. Up-to-date registration and valid driver license/insurance required, if operating a vehicle., • Flexibility to adjust hours based on organizational and community needs.
