Job Description Job Title: IT Support & Systems Internship Company: X-Bow Systems Inc. Location: Sacramento, CA Duration: June 15 - August 15th 2026 Pay: 20.00$/HR About X-Bow Systems: X-Bow Systems Inc. (pronounced "Crossbow") is a U.S. defense technology and rocket propulsion company that has developed an innovative, low-cost method to manufacture solid rocket motors. Position Overview We are seeking a motivated IT intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience across cybersecurity compliance, operational technology (OT) modernization, and end-user support. This internship offers exposure to real-world IT infrastructure challenges in a manufacturing environment, with opportunities to work on CMMC compliance initiatives, OT network modernization, and technical support operations. Key ResponsibilitiesCMMC Compliance & Security (40%) • Assist with CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) compliance initiatives and documentation, • Support backup and decommissioning of legacy Spencer systems and data, • Participate in risk assessments and mitigation planning activities, • Digitize paper records and maintain organized documentation, • Help develop and deliver end-user training and security awareness campaigns, • Identify and coordinate secure destruction of obsolete equipment and records, • Assist with kiosk deployment and provide end-user trainingOperational Technology (OT) Network Modernization (35%), • Support modernization of sensors, signals, and networks (DAC, Autoclave, WATLOW systems), • Assist with upgrading machining equipment controls (CNC, winders, microscopes, etc.), • Contribute to design of OT networked controls and monitoring systems, • Document processes and help establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), • Create comprehensive mapping of OT assets and network topology, • Participate in testing and validation of OT security controls, • Identify process improvement opportunities and document findingsEnd-User Support (25%), • Receive, respond to, and perform initial triage of user support requests, • Promote proper ticketing workflow and escalation procedures with end-users, • Install and configure computers, printers, and peripheral devices, • Assist with software updates and patch management activities, • Create and update user guides and knowledge base articles, • Gain exposure to CMMC framework, compliance requirements, and security best practices, • Learn to develop and implement compliance strategies under supervision of IT staff, • Develop understanding of OT systems, industrial controls, and network design principles, • Learn to assess, plan, and implement technology modernization projects, • Build foundational skills in IT troubleshooting and customer service, • Learn ticketing systems, escalation procedures, and support best practices, • Currently pursuing degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field, • Strong interest in IT security, compliance, and operational technology, • Excellent communication and documentation skills, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CMMC), • Basic understanding of networking concepts, • Experience with ticketing systems or help desk operations, • Interest in industrial/manufacturing technology environmentsWhat
