Job Description The teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a positive, supportive learning environment. This role includes guiding students through structured, content-rich lessons in a specific discipline, nurturing intellectual curiosity, and instilling moral and civic virtues. Teachers provide students with a robust educational experience during each class period, ensuring they develop academically and personally. In addition, teachers are expected to maintain clear expectations, demonstrate subject matter expertise, and care for the individual growth of each student. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Plan lessons and deliver instruction for a class of approximately 25-32 students according to ACA's classical curriculum and pedagogy, • Develop and maintain a climate and culture of joy, order, and wonder in the classroom, managing student misconduct promptly and appropriately, • Teach and mentor students, utilizing classical pedagogy., • Engage professionally and charitably with students, parents, other faculty, and staff, • Actively seek collaborative relationships with parents and mentor students in the pursuit of their own flourishing, • Model good judgment, prudence, virtue, self-discipline, and responsibility, • Assign, collect, grade, and return graded work in a timely manner, • Proctor or supervise tests on the annual testing cycle (beginning of year, middle of year, end of year), • Continuously monitor student progress and self-evaluate how best to support effective student learning, • Proactively identify struggling or advanced students to provide additional support or academic extensions, • Collaborate with Student Services team to meet requirements of special educational plans, such as IEPs, 504s, and others, • Develop and implement student interventions, and collaborate with intervention specialists in the creation and implementation of student IEPs, • Engage in professional development to deepen understanding of subject content and classical pedagogy, • Use appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes, record keeping, assessment, evaluation, and performance analysis, • Communicate regularly, usually weekly, with parents, • Assist in daily operations of the school (e.g., taking attendance, supervising student arrivals, passing periods in hallways, lunchtime and recess supervision) on a shared schedule, • Maintain confidentiality in student records, • Maintains a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners, • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations., • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 36 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (Colorado Teaching license is NOT required), • Teachers with a bachelor's degree, at a minimum 36 hours of higher education credit in the subject area of instruction preferred (In some cases, a passing grade in a content exam will suffice.), • Strong background in relevant content areas with a willingness to receive specific training, • Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc., • Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education, • Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues, • Adherence to all ACACS policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and applicable school and board policies, • Proficiency in English verbal and written, • Proficiency in a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate information and issues, • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their personal best, • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment with superior organization and computer skills, • Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and team members, • Ability to provide excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism, • Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability to challenges, • Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude, • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations., • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds, • Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school, • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach, • Must be able to supervise indoor and outdoor activities Mandatory Background Checks: In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and may require fingerprinting.
