Job DescriptionJob Title: TechnicianJob Description This role offers the opportunity to operate heavy equipment on commercial remediation and drilling projects in New Jersey. The Technician safely moves soil and other materials, primarily using excavators and dozers, while also supporting the crew with ground work as needed. The position begins as a 6‑month contract-to-hire, with the potential for permanent employment based on performance. Responsibilities • Operate heavy equipment, with a primary focus on excavators and dozers, to move soil and other materials safely and efficiently on commercial remediation and drilling projects., • Use both CAT and DEERE style controls on excavators with a high level of proficiency and adaptability., • Assist the crew on the ground with tasks related to remediation, drilling, site preparation, and general construction activities., • Load and unload heavy equipment onto and off trailers in a safe and controlled manner., • Follow all safety protocols and regulatory requirements, including those associated with Hazwoper certification, while working on remediation sites., • Inspect equipment before and after use to identify and report any mechanical or safety issues., • Work collaboratively with a crew of 2–5 people, coordinating activities so each specialized role contributes effectively to project completion., • Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly., • Adapt to changing site conditions and project requirements, including working in varying weather conditions., • Support efficient project execution by communicating clearly with supervisors and crew members about progress, issues, and safety concerns.Essential Skills, • Demonstrated proficiency operating excavators and dozers in a construction or remediation environment., • Ability to operate excavators using both CAT and DEERE control configurations., • Experience working with heavy equipment on commercial remediation and drilling projects or similar construction sites., • Current 40-hour Hazwoper certification with a valid 8-hour refresher., • Ability to safely load and unload heavy equipment on trailers., • Knowledge of basic construction and heavy equipment operating practices (HEO)., • Capability to support ground operations in addition to operating equipment., • Strong awareness of safety practices and willingness to follow all site and regulatory requirements.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as skid steer, backhoe, and other construction machinery., • CDL Class A license is a strong plus for transporting heavy equipment., • Prior experience in commercial remediation and drilling environments., • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, specialized crew., • Comfort working outdoors in both hot and cold weather conditions., • Strong communication skills for coordinating activities with crew members and supervisors.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work on commercial remediation and drilling sites as part of a crew of approximately 2–5 people, where each team member has a specialized role. The position is structured as a 6‑month contract-to-hire, with the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance. You regularly operate and work around heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, skid steers, and backhoes, and you may also work near trailers used for transporting machinery. The setting emphasizes safety, teamwork, and adherence to environmental and remediation standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Old Bridge, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
