Job Description Summary: Solar Electrical Technicians (Levels 1-4) perform field-based electrical operations and maintenance on a utility-scale PV power plant, executing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting DC and AC plant issues, and restoring equipment to service safely and efficiently. The role requires disciplined adherence to OSHA and NFPA 70E principles, proper use of test equipment, accurate documentation in CMMS, and clear communication with supervisors, Remote Operation Center monitoring teams, and contractors. Responsibility and autonomy scale by level, from supervised task execution and basic diagnostics (Level 1) to advanced troubleshooting, work leadership, switching activities where authorized, and mentoring lower-level technicians (Levels 3–4). Employment for this site requires successful completion of MWAA badging and background checks as a condition of site access. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Ensure strict adherence to all safety standards, including OSHA, NFPA, state and local regulations, and company safety policies., • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including hazard recognition, quality job briefings, stop-work authority, and safe work practices., • Identify, escalate, and support resolution of electrical and operational safety hazards., • Ensure consistent application of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), energized work controls, and PPE requirements across assigned areas., • Performs MV/substation inspections; writes and performs switching orders (when qualified/authorized); supports broader operational execution and coordination., • Work on and around energized electrical parts in accordance with established codes, training, and company policy., • Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities with the objective of optimizing plant performance and operational efficiency., • Executes preventive and corrective maintenance tasks., • Ensure compliance with O&M agreements, warranty requirements, and service-level commitments., • Troubleshoot and diagnose common DC faults; perform repair activities consistent with role level and training., • Use electrical test equipment and field tools as required (e.g., multimeters, low resistance ohmmeters, PV analyzers, IR thermometer/camera, irradiance meter)., • Extract data files, support monitoring software operation, and perform basic networking tasks (e.g., temporary IP changes for equipment connectivity) using PC/tablet., • Attend training (local/remote) to maintain and expand skills; provide support to remote sites within the operating fleet as needed., • Participate in environmental compliance activities, including routine inspections and administrative recordkeeping for regulated waste; support emergency response as needed; maintain awareness of RCRA and DOT requirements., • Collaborate with peers, supervisors, vendors, and subcontractors to execute scopes safely and efficiently, • Support corrective maintenance planning while ensuring work remains within Owner/O&M scope., • Execute and oversee daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance tasks for Owner-scope equipment per the O&M Plan., • Complete and submit inspection/testing data accurately and on time, document work in CMMS and other platforms., • Identify, document, and escalate safety hazards, near misses, and incidents., • Support emergency response activities and Emergency Action Plan execution., • Other duties as assigned Environmental Responsibilities: • Participate in environmental compliance programs, inspections, and administrative recordkeeping., • Support and maintaining compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations., • Assist with environmental incident response and mitigation activities as required. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent., • Minimum 3 years of experience working with PV utility-scale power generation, substations, or BESS environments., • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, NESC, and MV safety practices., • MUST complete MWAA badging and background checks, • Valid driver’s license., • Experience performing IR thermography and DGA sampling., • Proficiency with CMMS platforms, maintenance reporting tools, and performance metrics., • Strong leadership and communication skills., • Ability to manage complex field operations across multiple locations., • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities., • Perform advanced mechanical and electrical tasks autonomously., • Possess strong knowledge of electrical theory & PV power generating system fundamentals., • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics., • Operate various testing equipment, tools and procedures utilized in the maintenance of PV power generation systems., • Ability to collaborate and coordinate well with peer Technicians and other personnel, vendors, and subcontractors., • an ability to learn new computer programs without difficulty., • Ability to operate in a professional workmanlike manner consistent with the organization’s policies, procedures, and vision.
