Job Description Job Title: Quality Control Inspector Job Description The Quality Control Inspector performs detailed dimensional and visual inspections throughout the production cycle to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role uses precision measuring equipment and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify conformance on highly regulated projects, including nuclear, Department of Energy (DoE), Department of Defense (DoD), and AS9100/ISO9001 work. The inspector collaborates closely with production and quality teams to maintain strict compliance and traceability for all inspected parts. Responsibilities • Perform first article, in-process, and final dimensional inspections to verify that products meet drawing specifications, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements, and customer quality standards., • Use conventional precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, digital height gages, and other tools to conduct accurate dimensional inspections., • Operate and utilize coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and related systems, including Faro, Faro Arm, Keyence, and Zeiss equipment, to perform precise measurements and verify product conformance., • Conduct visual inspections throughout the production cycle to identify nonconformances and ensure adherence to internal quality procedures and regulatory requirements., • Perform receipt inspections of incoming materials, parts, and consumables to confirm they meet specified requirements before release to production., • Execute quality control witness and hold points in accordance with work travelers and documented procedures., • Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles to inspection activities to ensure correct interpretation of tolerances and features., • Document all inspection results accurately, maintain complete traceability, and ensure inspection records are properly stored and organized., • Support quality audits and quality assurance activities by providing inspection data, documentation, and technical input as needed., • Collaborate with production personnel, quality assurance staff, and customers to clarify requirements, address quality issues, and support continuous improvement efforts., • Ensure all inspection activities comply with applicable QA programs, customer specifications, and standards such as AS9100 and ISO9001., • Contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement by following established procedures and suggesting enhancements to inspection processes. Essential Skills • Proven experience performing dimensional inspections using conventional precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and digital height gages., • Hands-on experience conducting first article, in-process, and final inspections in a production or machine shop environment., • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) concepts to inspection work., • Proficiency using coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for dimensional verification., • Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles, including compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 standards., • Experience performing receiving inspections for materials, parts, and consumables., • Ability to accurately document inspection results and maintain traceability throughout the production cycle., • Familiarity with audits and quality compliance activities., • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and commitment to accuracy in measurements and documentation., • Effective communication skills to interface with production personnel, quality teams, and customers. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working on projects in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, DoE, and DoD environments., • Hands-on experience with CMM technologies and brands such as Faro, Faro Arm, Keyence, and Zeiss., • machine shop or manufacturing setting with exposure to precision machining processes., • Knowledge of QA program requirements and customer-specific quality standards., • Comfort working with digital tools and measurement software associated with CMM and inspection equipment. Work Environment This role is based in a machine shop environment where precision machining and inspection activities take place. The standard schedule is a first shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of transitioning to four 10-hour shifts depending on operational needs. You will work with a range of precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, digital height gages, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) such as Faro, Faro Arm, Keyence, and Zeiss systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chattanooga, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
