Responsible for efficiently providing quality products to customers through daily management of a production team to include coaching, counseling, training, developing, motivating and problem solving. Maintains effective rapport and demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others by delegating responsibilities. In collaboration with Department Managers, controls and improves efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime and repair expenses. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervises overall safety, quality, productivity, and team member relations to achieve positive results across the site, • Demonstrates a commitment to Workplace and Product Safety and enforces plant safety regulations with team members ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, • Supports production challenges by using root cause analysis and identifying sustainable solutions, • Promotes, educates, and enforces quality standards ensuring compliance to SCT’s Quality Program, • Maintains and oversees timecards, vacation requests and staffing needs while partnering with Department Manager on scheduling and overtime needs, • Actively engages and collaborates with fellow Production Supervisors to ensure an effective transition between shifts while actively informing Site Superintendent with regular updates as needed, • Partners with Department Manager to obtain correct resources to train new team members, including temporary staff members, ensuring they have the tools, training, and proper resources to effectively perform the job, • Observes team member relations and partners with team members to resolve work issues; partners with Department Manager and the People Team regarding any disciplinary action, investigations or any other people needs, • Clearly, accurately, and effectively cascades and disseminates company information with individuals at all levels within the organization ensuring understanding and commitment; escalates concerns to Production Manager or the People Team as needed, • Completes and maintains all necessary production records and documentation, • Continuously provides feedback to team members by coaching and offering regular recognition and appreciation, • Manages staffing schedule and vacation requests to ensure operation is setup to fulfill production schedule, • Provides and ensures completion of annual performance reviews to team members, • Opens and closes plant each week ensuring all site security measures are followed, • Adapts to Continuous Improvement and follows new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation, • Monitors and adapts production activities to eliminate waste, ensure adherence to production and shipping schedule, and keeps downtime to a minimum, • Supervises the maintenance of a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S systems, • Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Uses situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions; consistently wears appropriate PPE for the task at hand within the assigned area. Attend training and meetings as defined by management., • Partners with Department Manager to provide feedback and ensure completion and delivery of on-schedule performance reviews to team members, • Attends trainings and meetings as requested by management and actively participates on various teams or committees to contribute to the continuous improvement of safety, quality and overall operations, • Projects positive company image by interacting with fellow Team Members, customers and management in a cooperative, supportive and courteous manner; displays professional attitude; complies with company dress code, • Performs work according to supervisor's directives when requested, • Wears safety protection as required by company and/or customer, • Operates forklift when necessary Directly supervises six (6) to fifty (50) production team members to include but not limited to non-supervisor production Team Members at one designated location and/or several departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of designated unit(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving issues in compliance with any applicable employment law guidelines and upon consultation with the Vice President of Operations, Plant Manager, Production Manager, Chief People Officer, Regional People Experience Manager, and/or People Business Partner if necessary. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment including a minimum of two (2) years serving in a leadership capacity, • Experience in corrugated, paper, or folding carton industry preferred, • Bachelor’s degree preferred, will consider experience in lieu of degree, • Proficient in MS Office applications - Word, Outlook, Excel, • Working knowledge of large-scale ERP systems preferred, • Knowledge of occupational safety best practices and procedures preferred, • Excellent leadership and motivational skills, • Strong interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills and ability to effectively deliver, reinforce consistent messages and influence others via communication to get desired results at all levels of the organization, • Excellent planning, organizational, time-management and prioritization skills, • Ability to work satisfactorily as a team member and communicate with all levels within the company, • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment minimizing downtime and maximizing production, • Ability to manage a shifting production schedule while maintaining tight delivery deadlines, • Keen business acumen combined with strong fiscal awareness and understanding as it relates to cost control/reduction, particularly in response to immediate and critical operational decisions, • Ability to Incorporate continuous improvement processes and best practices, • Ability to handle sudden changes in project/priority and multiple tasks simultaneously in a positive fashion, • Ability to set, adjust and change daily priorities, • Ability to manage conflict and resolve issues in the most positive fashion for all parties concerned, • Ability to identify problems or potential problems at both a strategic and functional level and/or make or recommend decisions to resolve the same, • Willingness to accept responsibility and take on new challenges, • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on a customary and regular basis, • Adept at problem solving, • Ability to select and effectively use personal protective equipment according to the specific hazard or hazards in accordance with company and/or department requirements, • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older, • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check, • Must be dependable, • Willingness to work any shift when needed, • Must always be on call, • Flexibility to work additional hours when required, • Valid driver's license, • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, • Ability to provide transportation to and from other Chattanooga locations when required Ability to read, understand, and communicate to others the meaning of complex documents including legal documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. 2nd Shift - 2:00pm- 10:00pm Downtown Plant - 220 Compress Street, Chattanooga, TN 37405
