American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Tacoma, Washington. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 05/04/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 3x12hrs, • Hours: 36 hrs/wk, • Start Date: May 4, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Work in a 16-bed PICU at a newly opened Level II Trauma Center facility, • Mixed unit with overflow interchangeability between Med/Surg and PICU, covering neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical patients, • Diverse pediatric patient population including respiratory patients (high flow, CPAP, BiPAP), trach, chemo, RSV, asthma, COVID, MIS-C, new onset diabetes with insulin drips, oncology, trauma (falls, MVAs), and congenital heart defect patients, • Surgical cases include appendectomies, g-tubes, ENT, fresh trachs, bowel obstructions, broken bones, VP shunts, cardiac, and neuro procedures, • No solid organ transplant, major burns, or stem cell transplant patients, • ECMO patients are managed by an ECMO specialist; CRRT is low volume and typically assigned to core staff, but travelers with Prismax experience may take CRRT patients after training, • EMR: Epic (preferred), • 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, • 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • May float to Med/Surg or ED in a Helping Hands or Constant Observer capacityRequirements, • Active WA state RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand, • Current certifications: BLS and PALS, • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required, • Proficiency in aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, suctioning, G-tube/J-tube management, feeding tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, drip management, and Foley insertion and management, • CRRT experience with Prismax preferred, • CICU experience preferred, • Two professional references from a supervisor or above (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or equivalent) required prior to start; one reference accepted at time of considerationAdditional Information, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Scrubs may be any color; hooded shirts and long sleeves are not permitted — sleeves must be able to be pulled above the elbow, • In rare surge situations, care may extend to patients up to age 30 With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
