Job Description RN TRIAGE: UBMD Primary Care seeking full-time Registered Nurse for triage at its busy outpatient clinic at the Conventus Medical Office Building downtown. The RN will manage and respond to patient calls seeking medical information, medical attention and/or matters of an urgent nature. Will be responsible for assisting patients via phone interaction and/or on site by assessing needs, offering clinical options, referrals to health care providers, services and community resources. Provides telephone triage interactions that may require assessment, patient education and crisis intervention, focusing on the assessment and disposition of symptom-based calls. Will assist with medical refill management and forms as well as assisting team of medical assistants and LPN’s with clinical questions, as needed. Ideal candidate will have an active NYS RN license with a minimum of 3 to 4 years’ experience as an RN, preferably in an outpatient clinic setting. Experience in triage required. Excellent communication, multi-tasking and organizational skills required. Must have a high attention to detail. Schedule will be 9:30 to 5:30 Monday through Friday. FREE PARKING! No holidays or weekends! Pay range is $65,000 to $70,000 depending on experience. Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful background check and drug screen. AA/EOE JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE Registered Nurse – Triage LOCATION(S) Outpatient Clinic REPORTS TO: RN Nurse Manager FLSA STATUS: Exempt SALARY RANGE: $65,000/annually - $70,000/annually POSITION TYPE: Full Time SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: N/A Job Summary: • Responsible for assisting patients via telephone interaction and/or on site by assessing needs, offering clinical options, referrals to health care providers, services and community resources., • Provides telephone triage interactions that may require assessment, patient education and crisis intervention, focusing on the assessment and disposition of symptom-based calls., • Responsible for medical refill management and assisting with forms., • Provides support services to providers with coordination of patient care, relaying information to patients regarding abnormal test results and treatment plans and assisting with urgent matters. Will relay lab results, coordinate appointment scheduling and take sick calls., • Responsible for assisting team of medical assistants and/or LPN’s with clinical questions, as needed., • Represents organization in a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families., • Independently problem solves and utilizes resources to obtain patient information when patient is unable to communicate., • Refers patients to proper resources, such as billing support, and coordinates timely follow up of patient requests for services regarding prescription requests, referrals, diagnostic testing and sick visit appointments., • Provides patient with educational materials, distribution of resource literature from insurance carriers and community service recommendations., • Ability to work a minimum of 37.50 hours per week on a regular basis, except during times when paid time off is requested and approved., • Reviews and addresses daily tasks as assigned., • Complies with all OSHA regulations., • May perform clinical duties on the floor as needed or requested., • Reviews company email on at least a daily basis in order to receive and address notifications and/or other pertinent information in a timely manner., • Any other duties as requested or assigned by the RN Nurse Manager and/or other management representative. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice., • May be required to travel to other UBMDFM location(s) dependent on company need. Education: NYS Licensed Registered Nurse, BSN preferred. Experience: Minimum of three (3) to four (4) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in an outpatient clinic setting. Experience in triage required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills required. Must be client-service oriented and proficient in multi-tasking, prioritization and organizational skills. Must have a high attention to detail. Working/Environment Conditions: • Position is in a well-lit, fast-paced, clean office environment., • Office noise level will be mild to moderate most times., • Moderate/average indoor temperatures., • Moderate noise level with ability to work from a quiet area due to extensive phone use.
