Job Description Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include tending furnace and light boiler work, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk. SCHOOL MAINTENANCE WORKER Education, training, skills, and experience necessary to complete basic installation and repairs in the areas of Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, and LockSmith is required. • Knowledge of Boiler operations and controls preferred., • Experience operating Lawn Maintenance Power Equipment to include Ride-on Mowers, Trimmers, Leaf Blowers, Edgers, Ect. is required, • Ability to occasionally operate heavy equipment such as a back-hoe or front end loader preferred., • Ability to operate snow removal power equipment and a snow plow is required., • Has physical stamina for prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, crawling and other physical exertion;, • required to work on ladders and roofs;, • requires safety awareness on construction, repair and emergency sites;, • may be required to work during off-hours for emergencies and snow removal;, • required to work outdoors in inclement weather;, • required to lift and carry heavy supplies, materials and equipment over seventy-five (75) pounds;, • Must Be available to come to work for all inclement weather., • Ability To Work extended hours as needed to complete an assignment., • Must Be Available for Occasional Overtime., • Possess good communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the public., • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status., • Passage of the pre-employment physical/testing. Maintenance Worker Job Duties and Tasks for: Maintenance Mechanic • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them., • Empty trash cans, recycle, service, clean, and supply restrooms., • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures., • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created., • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks., • Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery, using mowers and hand and power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds., • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems., • Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals., • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties., • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings., • Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation., • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. Dust walls, machines, and equipment., • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees., • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems., • Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications., • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets., • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors., • Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment., • Clean chimneys, flues, and connecting pipes, using power and hand tools., • Clean kitchen equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment., • Handling and Moving Objects -- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things., • Performing General Physical Activities -- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials., • Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment -- Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles., • Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment -- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, aircraft, or water craft., • Controlling Machines and Processes -- Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles)., • Equipment Maintenance -- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed., • Mechanical -- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance., • 1-3 years of experience in the industry is preferred
