Job Description Job Title: Facilities Technician Job Description This role focuses on performing a wide range of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to keep building systems, equipment, and grounds in safe, reliable, and fully functional condition. The Facilities Technician inspects assigned areas regularly, completes scheduled work orders, and supports repair activities across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general facility components in a customer-facing environment. Responsibilities • Inspect assigned areas on a routine basis to identify maintenance needs and ensure the facility remains in a safe, functional, and serviceable condition., • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists of pre-scheduled building and equipment preventive maintenance procedures and work orders., • Repair and maintain fixtures and hardware such as doors, windows, minor appliances, office equipment, and other building components., • Perform general facilities maintenance, including basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, drywall, carpentry, and troubleshooting tasks., • Assist with maintenance and repair of rooftop HVAC units and related systems, including work on VAV (Variable Air Volume) boxes where applicable., • Monitor building systems and promptly report major maintenance needs, safety concerns, and equipment issues, recommending corrective actions as needed., • Provide customer-facing support by responding to maintenance requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner., • Document maintenance activities, work orders, and findings clearly and accurately using written, verbal, and email communication., • Support the upkeep of building grounds and common areas to maintain a clean, orderly, and presentable environment., • 4–6 years of building maintenance experience within apartment complexes, hotels, or general property maintenance environments., • Hands-on facilities maintenance experience across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, drywall, carpentry, and general troubleshooting., • Experience performing preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment., • Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a daily basis., • Customer service experience in prior roles, including direct interaction with building occupants or guests., • Strong communication skills, including clear written, verbal, and email communication., • Experience working on rooftop HVAC units., • Familiarity with VAV (Variable Air Volume) boxes., • EPA Universal certification., • Previous maintenance experience in hotel or apartment complex settings., • Experience working in customer-focused environments such as apartments, hotels, or corporate facilities., • Building maintenance experience with a strong emphasis on preventive maintenance., • Previous experience in residential and/or contractor maintenance work., • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work orders and maintenance tasks efficiently. Work Environment The role is based in a brand-new, modern hotel facility located in Boston. You work in a contemporary, guest-focused environment that combines hotel operations with advanced building systems and rooftop HVAC equipment, including VAV boxes. The position involves regular movement throughout the property, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and guest-facing areas, and requires frequent lifting of 50+ pounds. You can expect a professional atmosphere with access to on-site parking and opportunities for overtime, while working with standard facilities tools, equipment, and maintenance technologies to support a high-quality guest experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
