Job Description Job Title: Commercial Concrete Finisher Job Description This role focuses on pouring and finishing large commercial concrete slabs, typically between 10,000 and 15,000 square feet per day, on a variety of turnkey commercial projects. You will perform flat work, curb and gutter, sidewalk installation, and form setting for commercial buildings, schools, apartment complexes, and site work such as curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and aprons. You will work with regular wood forms, comply with all mandatory safety and PPE requirements, and contribute to high-quality, large-scale concrete construction projects. Responsibilities • Pour and finish large commercial concrete slabs, typically ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 square feet per day., • Perform flat work including placing, screeding, floating, edging, and finishing concrete surfaces to specified tolerances., • Install and finish curb and gutter, sidewalks, and aprons on commercial construction sites., • Set, align, and secure regular wood forms using two-by-fours, two-by-sixes, and plywood for various concrete placements., • Work on turnkey commercial projects including commercial buildings, schools, and apartment complexes from start to finish., • Handle site work such as curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and aprons to meet project specifications and schedules., • Use hand tools, sliders, knee boards, and personal tools to achieve high-quality finishes and productivity., • Read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints as needed to understand layout, elevations, and details., • Follow all safety procedures and comply with mandatory PPE requirements on commercial job sites., • Collaborate with crew members, foremen, and leads to complete daily production goals and maintain quality standards., • Work early mornings and late nights as needed to accommodate concrete placement schedules and project timelines., • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues to supervision., • Travel with crews to various job sites within the region, including Colorado Springs, Denver, Pueblo, and occasional projects in Salida., • Support a team-oriented environment by communicating clearly and assisting coworkers as needed to complete tasks safely and efficiently. Essential Skills • 3 years or more of concrete experience preferred, ideally 5 or more years in commercial concrete finishing., • Well-rounded skills in flat work, including slab finishing on large commercial projects., • Proficiency in curb and gutter work, including setting forms and finishing to grade., • Experience installing and finishing sidewalks and aprons on commercial and site work projects., • Demonstrated ability to pour and finish big slabs, usually around 10,000 to 15,000 square feet per day., • Experience working on site work projects including curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and aprons, primarily on turnkey projects., • Experience in commercial concrete work on buildings, schools, and apartment complexes., • Ability to set and work with regular wood forms, including two-by-fours, two-by-sixes, and plywood., • Understanding of and adherence to all safety requirements associated with commercial construction work., • Willingness and readiness to work early mornings and late nights in alignment with the demands of concrete placement and finishing., • Capability to comply with mandatory PPE requirements on all commercial job sites., • Ability to work effectively as part of a concrete crew in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment., • Openness to learning and developing skills in flat work and commercial concrete finishing for candidates with relevant exposure. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Blueprint reading experience is a plus and helps with understanding layout and project requirements., • Experience on turnkey commercial projects, including full-scope flat work and site work, is highly valuable., • Exposure to commercial buildings, schools, and apartment complexes enhances familiarity with project types and standards., • Comfort working in bilingual crews; Spanish speakers are welcome and foremen are usually bilingual., • Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to showing up on time and ready to work., • Willingness to grow into lead or foreman roles based on performance and demonstrated leadership., • Ability to adapt to different job sites within the region, including Colorado Springs, Denver, Pueblo, and occasional projects in Salida., • Possession of personal hand tools, sliders, knee boards, and other finishing tools required for daily work. Work Environment The work is primarily field-based on commercial construction sites, with about 90% of projects located in Colorado Springs and approximately 10% to 15% in the Denver area. Additional projects occasionally take place in Pueblo and Salida, with most Denver work concentrated south of the city in the Centennial area. For Denver projects, the company provides crew transportation in work trucks, supporting efficient travel to and from job sites. All commercial job sites require mandatory personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, with hard hats and safety glasses supplied by the company. You must bring your own hand tools, sliders, knee boards, and personal finishing tools, while the company provides specialty tools such as rakes and shovels. The role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions, early mornings, and late nights, reflecting the demands of concrete placement and finishing. You will be part of a field crew environment that emphasizes safety, teamwork, and productivity on active commercial construction sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
