Job Description $160 per diem per day Working 6 12's Travel required Project located in Memphis, TN Job Title: Electrician (Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Construction) Job Description This role focuses on industrial and data-center construction, installing and commissioning new low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure rather than operating or maintaining existing plants. You will work as part of a traveling internal construction team, building and energizing systems from detailed drawings and turning them over upon completion. The position is hourly with overtime, requires extensive hands-on field work, and involves frequent travel on a rotation schedule with per diem support. Responsibilities • Install and terminate new low-voltage electrical infrastructure, including conduit, cable tray, underground duct bank, cable, wire, and 480 V building and feeder work., • Pull, land, torque, and energize new electrical equipment from construction drawings, one-line diagrams, manuals, and work packages, then turn systems over to operations., • Perform LV inside-wireman work on 415 V and 480 V systems, including switchgear, busway, PDUs/UPS, main switchboards (MSBs), and grounding systems., • Support the first energization of new 480 V systems while strictly following NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and grounding procedures., • Install medium-voltage infrastructure at 12.47 kV, 13.8 kV, and 34.5 kV, including e-house medium-voltage switchgear (MVSG), generator step-up transformers (GSUs), 15 kV and 35 kV cable, and duct banks., • Perform and document 15 kV and 35 kV medium-voltage cable terminations in accordance with manufacturer requirements and project specifications., • Support hipot and very low frequency (VLF) testing of medium-voltage systems and work safely adjacent to live campus buses., • Apply OSHA 1910.269 requirements, NFPA 70E, and LOTO procedures during switching, clearances, and commissioning activities., • Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and ammeters to verify installations, perform basic troubleshooting, and confirm system integrity., • Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, one-lines, and work packages to plan and execute installation and commissioning tasks., • Perform physical construction work, including routing and securing conduit and tray, pulling cable, making terminations, and ensuring proper mechanical and electrical connections., • Work as part of a traveling project team, mobilizing to active construction sites, completing build and commissioning scopes, and moving with the work as new facilities come online., • Adhere to safety policies and procedures at all times, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions., • Work nights, weekends, and extended shifts as needed to meet construction and energization schedules., • Maintain clear documentation of work performed, terminations, tests, and energization activities in accordance with project and safety requirements. Essential Skills • Minimum of 5+ years of industrial or data-center electrical construction or commissioning experience, specifically installing conduit, tray, duct bank, cable, and 480 V terminations., • State journeyman electrician license for low-voltage construction work., • At least 5+ years of medium-voltage construction experience at 5 kV or above; experience limited to 415/480 V does not qualify as medium voltage., • Documented experience performing 15 kV and/or 35 kV terminations, supported by resume details or manufacturer terminator cards., • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, one-lines, schematics, manuals, and work packages., • Hands-on experience with installation from prints, including terminations, landing and torquing connections, and performing physical construction work., • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures beyond basic OSHA 10 familiarity., • Familiarity with OSHA 1910.269 requirements for medium-voltage switching, clearances, and related safety practices., • Proficiency with common electrical test tools such as multimeters, meggers, and ammeters., • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work at heights, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks outdoors in all weather conditions., • Willingness to work as an hourly employee with overtime, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts during construction and energization phases., • Ability and willingness to travel 80% or more on a construction rotation, with readiness to work on multiple active construction sites., • Comfort working adjacent to live medium-voltage buses while following all applicable safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience specifically in industrial and data-center construction or commissioning environments, rather than facilities maintenance, service work, or plant operations., • Experience installing and working with 415 V and 480 V switchgear, busway, PDUs/UPS, main switchboards (MSBs), and grounding systems., • Experience installing e-house medium-voltage switchgear (MVSG), generator step-up transformers (GSUs), and associated medium-voltage cable and duct banks., • Experience supporting hipot and VLF testing of medium-voltage systems., • Comfort with a traveling role that includes rotation-based assignments, per diem, and/or housing while on site., • Ability to work effectively as part of a construction and commissioning team, coordinating tasks and communicating clearly with supervisors and peers., • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards when performing terminations, testing, and energization activities., • Flexibility to move with the work as new data-center facilities come online and construction priorities shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $60.00/hr.
