Job Description The bartender functions under the supervision of and in coordination with the Director of Food & Beverage. This position is required to provide outstanding guest service, prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests, clean, stock and maintain the bar area, and handle POS transactions, including accepting payment. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensures guests receive immediate, friendly, and personalized service to enhance their experience. Builds rapport with guests through conversation and name recognition., • Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests and for staff to serve guests., • Ensures portion control and maintains appropriate serving temperatures of all products served., • Verifies all guests that purchase alcohol are at least 21 years of age., • Moves with a sense of urgency; quickly prepares and serves liquor, mixed drinks, wine, beer, and nonalcoholic drinks as ordered., • Follows all established recipes and procedures in beverage preparation., • Possesses full knowledge of food and beverage products served and uses suggestive selling techniques., • Operates POS system accurately and efficiently; ensuring all food or drink items ordered are rung in and properly accounted for., • Practices proper cash handling procedures through payment collection in POS system, properly organizing money, counting change correctly and following appropriate checkout procedures., • Ensure fruit and other garnishes are prepared daily., • Maintains the bar and keeps it clean and organized., • Cleans coolers and rotates stock, as needed., • Maintains cleanliness of utensils and bar equipment., • Keeps bar stocked with appropriate par levels of beer, wine, and liquor., • Keeps bar stocked with garnishes, ice, cups, napkins, straws, etc. throughout the shift., • Tracks items that are spilled or wasted and minimizes spills and waste as much as possible., • Completes all opening, running and closing duties as assigned., • Ensures alcohol is consumed in designated areas only., • Uses proper judgment and, when necessary, refuses service to patrons who are intoxicated or disruptive., • Stays up to date on upcoming shows or events to answer guest questions., • Maintains guest satisfaction by answering questions thoroughly, handling complaints or directing them to a manager, and providing information about the venue., • Adheres to responsible alcohol service established by company policy., • Adheres to all relevant health department rules and regulations. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Experience Required: • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, preferred, • Valid Server Permit from TABC; must obtain permit individually and provide proof of possession upon hire., • One to three years’ experience as a bartender in a high-volume environment preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience, • Completion of mixology, barkeeping or other related training preferred, • Must be at least the minimum age required to serve alcohol., • Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service., • Ability to prepare drinks quickly and accurately., • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision., • Excellent service orientation., • Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving guests., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Strong command of the English language., • Ability to listen to and understand guest requests., • Ability to remain calm when dealing with unruly and argumentative guests., • Good judgment and decision-making skills., • Ability to communicate clearly with guests (primarily in English)., • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals., • Ability to learn and operate POS system., • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure., • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment., • Must be able to stand, walk, reach and prepare drinks for prolonged periods., • Must be able to push, pull and lift objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally, from position to position., • Must be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces., • Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently., • Will be required to use physical capabilities including climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps., • Able to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction., • Able to work in environment with moderate to high noise levels., • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
