Job Description Day Shift Solderer Job Description The Solderer Assembler builds and inspects electrical panels, circuit boards, and electronic assemblies in a controlled cleanroom environment, following detailed documentation and drawings. This role focuses on precision hand soldering of thru-hole and surface-mount components, mechanical and electrical assembly, and accurate completion of production documentation. You will collaborate closely with team members, rotate across workstations, and maintain high-quality workmanship in accordance with IPC standards. Responsibilities • Assemble and inspect electrical panels, circuit boards, and electronic assemblies according to related documentation, schematics, and drawings., • Trim and form leaded components to specified dimensions before installation., • Use a soldering iron to build basic and complex electrical assemblies in line with documented procedures and quality standards., • Perform hand soldering, inspection, and touch-up of thru-hole, SMT, and mixed-technology assemblies as per specifications and IPC workmanship standards., • Rework thru-hole, SMT, mixed assemblies, and custom parts in accordance with IPC workmanship standards., • Prepare, place, and install electronic components accurately on printed circuit boards., • Perform mechanical assembly tasks as required to complete final products or subassemblies., • Properly complete and maintain production documentation, including travelers, checklists, and quality records., • Communicate effectively with cell team leaders regarding parts shortages, quality issues, or process problems., • Support final assembly activities and perform packing and shipping tasks as required to meet customer commitments., • Rotate between different workstations and production cells as needed to support workflow and cross-training., • Complete hour-by-hour forms or other cycle-time and performance documentation when required for production analysis., • Operate and handle cleanroom and production equipment, including hand tools, microscopes, and soldering tools, in a safe and efficient manner., • Participate actively in training and certification programs to maintain and update job knowledge and skills., • Follow established quality, cleanliness, and safety procedures throughout all assembly and soldering activities. Essential Skills • Proven experience in production assembly or electronic assembly environments, including work with circuit boards and electrical panels., • Hands-on experience with hand soldering of thru-hole and surface-mount (SMT) components on printed circuit boards., • Ability to read and understand assembly documentation, including drawings, schematics, and work instructions., • Demonstrated proficiency in cleanroom production practices and adherence to cleanliness standards., • Experience working with microscopes for inspection and fine-pitch soldering or component placement., • Skilled in using hand tools and soldering equipment for electronic and mechanical assembly., • Knowledge of surface-mount technology (SMT), thru-hole technology, and mixed-technology assemblies., • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 workmanship standards and practical application in electronic assembly., • Certification to IPC-A-610 for electronic assemblies., • Certification to IPC-J-STD-001 in soldering for both thru-hole and SMT assemblies., • Ability to perform wiring, wave solder-related tasks, and work with SMT machines as part of the assembly process., • Strong hand dexterity and excellent hand–eye coordination for precise assembly and soldering work., • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with team leaders and colleagues., • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support collaborative production goals., • High school education or equivalent. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with production assembly of circuit boards in a cleanroom environment., • Knowledge in electronic assembly involving PCB layout interpretation, component identification, and soldering assembly., • Familiarity with wave solder processes and operation or support of SMT machines., • Knowledge of IPC-610 requirements and best practices for electronic assembly quality., • Comfort working with both mechanical assembly and electrical assembly tasks within the same workflow., • Ability to complete detailed production and performance documentation, including cycle-time and hour-by-hour forms., • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and certification programs to maintain current technical skills., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, reliable electronic assemblies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
