Job Description Job Title: Finish Carpenter Job Description We are seeking a skilled Finish Carpenter to join our team as a Multi-Trade Construction Technician. This full-time position is based primarily in Los Altos and Palo Alto, with occasional projects across the South Bay and Peninsula. This specialized skill adds character through elements such as crown molding, baseboards, door/window casings, wainscoting, built-in shelves, and custom cabinetry, enhancing both beauty and property value. Key Aspects of Finish Carpentry • Focus on Aesthetics: Unlike rough carpentry (framing), finish carpentry is all about the fine details and final look of a space, adding charm and defining the home's style., • Timing: It's performed after the building's structure is complete, insulation, wiring, and plumbing are in place, and drywall is hung., • Common Projects:, • Installing trim (baseboards, crown molding, door/window casings)., • Building and installing custom cabinets, bookshelves, and fireplace surrounds., • Hanging doors and fitting windows., • Creating wainscoting and wall paneling., • Installing stair railings and flooring., • Precision Craftsmanship: Ensuring all joints are tight, surfaces are smooth, and details are perfect., • Design Integration: Making sure all the detailed elements harmonize with the overall look and feel of the home., • Perform high-quality carpentry work, with an emphasis on finish carpentry., • Assist with and perform tasks across multiple trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general construction., • Support remodels, new construction, and tenant improvement projects from start to finish., • Work efficiently within small crews and collaborate closely with project leads., • Interact professionally with clients, subcontractors, and inspectors., • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites., • Strong carpentry skills, particularly in finish carpentry., • Broad knowledge of residential construction methods and multi-trade skills., • Ability to read plans, follow instructions, and problem-solve independently., • Strong communication skills in English., • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license., • Ability to lift materials, use tools safely, and work in various jobsite conditions., • Extensive experience with finish carpentry skills, especially in cabinetry and bathroom remodels., • Proficient in using power tools, hand tools, and a variety of saws., • Ability to drive own truck from San Jose to Palo Alto., • Preference for candidates in the immediate South Bay, including San Jose, Campbell, Peninsula, and Fremont regions., • Understanding of blueprints and schematics., • Experience in working with subcontractors (electrical, paint, plumbing, etc.) is a bonus. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Los Altos, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
