Job Description Wissahickon Charter School is seeking a Literacy Specialist for our Fernhill campus for the 2026-27 school year. The Literacy Specialist is responsible for supporting students in 3rd-8th grades who are in need of additional literacy intervention. Literacy Specialists are also expected to communicate regularly with teachers and parents about those students' growth. The ideal candidate will have 4 or more years of experience teaching literacy in relevant grade(s), some experience coaching literacy and/or leading school-wide literacy initiatives, and knowledge of EL (WCS' current literacy curricula) or other current literacy instructional best practices. Job Description The Overbrook School for the Blind is seeking a highly qualified Itinerant Teacher for the Visually Impaired who exudes a passion for the school, its students, its employees, and its mission. This position will report directly to the Educational Supervisor. The Mission of Overbrook School for the Blind (OSB) is to develop and deliver education that enhances the options available for persons with visual impairments, including those with additional challenges so that they have the greatest opportunity to experience active and fulfilling lives. Organizational Description: OSB is a dynamic and multi-faceted organization centered around the operation of a private non-profit school for ages 3 to 21. Formal and informal parental feedback consistently highlights the caring and committed staff as a primary strength of the School. Along with three other Chartered Schools for the Deaf and Blind throughout Pennsylvania, OSB receives general operating support through an annual state appropriation that partially subsidizes the salaries and benefits for over 230 employees. The Teacher Assistant will help the lead teacher with all classroom functions that follows below. 1. Possess and demonstrate strong working knowledge of Best Practices and other regulations., 2. Develop and implement curriculum, which reflect mandated elements and components, parental and cultural influences, and promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of PREK children., 3. Create weekly lesson plans, using Creative Curriculum and BluePrint, addressing individual goals for children. Provide a comprehensive safe and healthy learning environment for the children., 4. Follow a consistent schedule, which includes but is not limited to: small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities., 5. Meet education and health requirements of children in assigned classroom, including all required screenings. Assess children, document behavior, and evaluate results., 6. During family orientation. set educational goals for each child with the collaboration of the parents. Assist parents as primary teachers of their own children., 7. Consistently maintain and promote excellence in service through open and honest relationships with families, community members, and other LPV staff., 8. Consistently addresses families, community members, and co-workers in a courteous, pleasant, and respectful manner., 9. Consistently demonstrate respect for the capabilities and cultural differences of co-workers and families., 10. Maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment, including organization of space and material storage and meal implementation., 11. With Directors and Education Coordinators guidance, may provide leadership and direction to Classroom Aide(s), practicum students, families, and may actively participate in a co-teaching system., 12. In consultation with Director and Education Coordinator, develop own professional work goals and training plan working towards professional goals., 13. Maintain complete and accurate required family/child files, forms, and records within required timelines to document and track children in assigned classroom through Education Binder, Teaching Strategies, and Procare App., 14. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of compliance with agency policies and funders requirements., 15. Participate in required meetings as assigned., 16. Implement strategies and activities through school, agency, parent, and child contacts., 17. Participate in annual program Self-Assessment., 18. Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment concerning confidential information., 19. Maintain regular job attendance and adherence to working hours. Regular attendance and punctuality are a requirement of this position., 20. Accept and perform other work as assigned by the school district support and Keystone Stars., 21. Possess and maintain clearances and professional development and/or certifications that are required for job., 22. Demonstrate a professional and courteous manner and an ability to work harmoniously with other LPV Staff and Families., 23. Follow agency personnel and safety procedures.
