Sales Engineer \n Reports to: Director of Sales \n About EnSight Technologies \n EnSight Technologies designs, develops, and deploys vision system solutions for parking and transportation, delivering effortless parking and mobility experiences. We combine off-the-shelf cameras with our proprietary machine-learning software, digital wayfinding signage, sensors, and integrations with industry partners — creating a flexible, scalable ecosystem that gives owners, operators, and drivers real-time occupancy data with an emphasis on parking guidance. \n \n Job Summary \n We are seeking a dynamic, efficiency-driven Sales Engineer who blends technical expertise with consultative sales skills and a knack for internal process improvement. You will own the technical side of the sales cycle: supporting discovery, designing and scoping systems from client-provided information and files, building and managing our technical sales knowledge base, and generating proposals, quotes, and RFP responses. \n In this role, you will own key technical relationships with both customers and internal resources, partner closely with the sales team on proposal development and pricing strategy, conduct on-site assessments, and lead the technical hand-off to the Project & Implementation teams when deals are awarded. \n The right individual for this role acts with integrity, continuously educates themselves, takes initiative to solve problems, becomes an expert in the field, and commits to delivering a quality product and experience for our clients and their end users. \n \n Role Responsibilities \n Sales Discovery \n\n • Collaborate closely with the sales team and sales lead on pre-proposal strategy, technical scoping, solution configuration, pricing strategy, and solution value justification for the client.\n, • Conduct site assessments — through drawing reviews or on-site evaluations of parking facilities — to gather the data behind accurate designs and proposals.\n, • Serve as the primary technical liaison to customer-side decision-makers and technical resources, including IT, operations, engineering, and facility teams.\n, • Act as the bridge between EnSight’s sales team and our internal technical, product, engineering, and implementation team leads.\n, • Support sales presentations and RFP interviews on quoted technical solutions and system designs, on an as-needed basis.\n, • Maintain responsive communication with prospects, sales colleagues, vendors, and internal teams throughout the sales cycle, answering technical inquiries promptly while keeping the sales team on copy.\n\n Process Improvement \n\n • Learn, document, and improve EnSight’s sales engineering processes across discovery, scoping, design, and proposal generation.\n, • Facilitate a smooth hand-off of completed designs, proposals, and documentation to the sales lead.\n, • After a sale closes and moves into the project phase, coordinate with the project team and project engineer to ensure a clean transition, with support from the sales lead.\n, • Identify, adopt, implement, and/or build tools — including AI tools — that shorten turnaround time and improve the consistency of pre-sales deliverables.\n\n Drawings and Systems Design \n\n • Design system drawings using any combination of client-provided drawings, images, Google Earth, and CAD files to determine the quantity and optimal placement of cameras and other hardware, with close attention to client network constraints and requirements (hardwired, battery/solar, wireless, LTE vs. networked, and similar).\n, • Analyze parking facility layouts, traffic flows, and environmental conditions to recommend camera and sensor placement, system configurations that maximize detection accuracy, and optimized Signage layouts.\n, • Create detailed system diagrams, coverage maps, and installation specifications that align with industry standards, customer needs, and EnSight’s engineering specifications\n, • Specify hardware components and configurations for optimal performance and accuracy in coordination with the product and engineering teams, including drafting submittal packages of EnSight-provided hardware and software.\n, • Ensure designs fully leverage the capabilities of the EnSight Ecosystem (Eyes, Signage, Spaces, Plates, Connect, and related products), meeting our smart, simple, scalable commitment, and accuracy guarantees.\n\n Technical Knowledge \n\n • Create and manage a technical sales knowledge base covering product capabilities, hardware specifications, network requirements, standard configurations, and reusable responses to common technical questions.\n, • Become the internal subject-matter expert on the EnSight Ecosystem modules and how they apply across parking and transportation use cases.\n, • Partner with the product and engineering teams to keep the knowledge base current as products, hardware, and integrations evolve.\n, • Stay current on industry standards, competing technologies, and site conditions that affect system design and accuracy.\n, • Communicate effectively with EnSight hardware vendors/partners when needed, especially when quoting hardware that is custom for a specific client.\n\n Proposal, Quote, and RFP Response Generation \n\n • Lead the drafting of RFPs, proposals, quotes, and occasional presentations, ensuring alignment between customer requirements and EnSight’s capabilities.\n, • Support the sales team on proposal development, quote generation, and pricing strategy.\n, • Assemble complete proposal packages, including bills of materials, system layout drawings, submittals, pricing tables, and tailored scope narratives.\n, • Deliver proposal and RFP components on schedule to meet sales process deadlines.\n\n \n Core Competencies \n\n • Solution Architecture: Design and tailor systems and solutions that meet client specifications and project requirements.\n, • Attention to Detail: Maintains accuracy across BOMs, pricing, drawings, submittals, and project documentation.\n, • Communication: Communicates and presents effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n, • Time Management: Works with the sales team and sales lead to meet deadlines for pre-proposals, proposals, and RFPs.\n, • Cross-Functional Coordination: Works effectively with sales, engineering, and project teams.\n, • Problem-Solving: Makes sound decisions when facing competing options or changing project requirements.\n\n \n Qualifications, Experience, and Education \n Required \n\n • 2+ years of experience with parking technology and vision systems, solution design and layout, or a related technical role.\n, • Proficiency in system design, technical drawings, and solution development based on client and site requirements.\n, • Strong skills in producing sales documentation, including proposals, system layout drawings, and technical response writing.\n, • Experience with or ability to learn Visio for standard drawing needs.\n, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-facing and internal stakeholder engagement.\n, • Ability to travel as needed to conduct site walk surveys.\n\n Preferred \n\n • Experience with parking technology, video surveillance, access control, or smart infrastructure systems.\n, • Familiarity with CAD, Visio, or similar tools for producing system design drawings.\n, • Experience supporting sales teams through pre-sale technical design or estimating activities.\n\n Education \n\n • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT systems, engineering technology, construction management, or a related technical field — preferred.\n, • Associate’s degree with significant relevant experience may be considered.\n\n \n Computer and Software Skills \n\n • Design & Drawing Tools: CAD, Visio, or similar software for system design, site layout drawings, and as-built documentation.\n, • Documentation & Submittals: PandaDoc, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat for compiling proposals and RFP responses.\n, • Collaboration & Productivity: HubSpot, PandaDoc, Slack, and Google Workspace for internal coordination, client communication, and reporting.\n, • AI Tools: Ability to accelerate and elevate processes through the use of developing AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar).\n, • General Equipment: Laptop and standard office equipment for in-office and remote work; mobile device for field and site-visit communication; ability to adopt new tools as company systems evolve.\n\n \n Working Environment and Physical Requirements \n Work Environment \n\n • Remote, in-office (San Diego), or hybrid options available.\n, • Travel required — estimated 10% for site visits and client meetings.\n, • Fast-paced, multi-project environment requiring the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.\n, • Collaborative setting with frequent interaction across sales, engineering, product management, implementation, and executive teams.\n\n Physical Requirements \n\n • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while
