For an international engineering and R&D client in the Middle East defense and critical infrastructure domain, a Field Support Engineer is required to support complex systems deployed across multiple operational sites in the United Arab Emirates. The position is based in Abu Dhabi, UAE and involves close cooperation with customer stakeholders, remote support teams, and internal back-office experts. The Field Support Engineer will perform day-to-day supervision and monitoring of infrastructure components, COTS hardware, radio equipment and associated application software deployed on sites, as well as preventive and corrective maintenance on radio interfaces and related systems. The role is strongly customer-facing, includes a daily meeting with the client, and requires frequent travel to military sites, strong reporting capabilities, and the ability to work autonomously in demanding operational environments. What You Will Do? • Perform day-to-day system supervision and monitoring of infrastructure components, COTS hardware, radio equipment and associated application software deployed on sites, ensuring continuous operational availability and compliance with defined operational procedures., • Perform initial diagnosis and troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, identify issues requiring advanced expertise and escalate to back-office teams with clear technical information and logs to facilitate efficient problem resolution., • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance activities, such as replacement of faulty hardware devices or components, deployment of software updates following established procedures, and maintenance preventive et correctives on radio interfaces across multiple operational locations., • Support systems in Linux based environment, using established automation playbooks (Ansible), and contribute to deployments based on Linux, Docker and Ansible to ensure standardized, repeatable execution of predefined tasks., • Produce incident reports, maintain clear and accurate records of system configurations, changes and maintenance activities, and contribute to the update of procedures and manuals in alignment with operational and quality requirements., • Provide technical support to the customer, coordinate with customer and remote support teams to ensure smooth operations and participate in a daily meeting with the client as the primary technical representative on site., • Travel frequently, with many travels to different military sites across the UAE, to perform installation across 20 sites in UAE, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and field support activities in an operational or customer-facing environment., • Work both independently and as part of a team to solve problems in complex environments, ensuring excellent communication and coordination with all stakeholders and delivering clear, factual reporting on system status and incidents. Your Skills • Experience with Linux-based systems, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of deployed platforms in operational or customer-facing environments., • Knowledge of radio communication principles, applied to radio communication systems and radio interfaces used in Defense projects or critical infrastructure., • Exposure to Ansible or automation tools for executing predefined tasks, enabling the use of established automation playbooks (Ansible) to support consistent field operations., • Basic understanding of networking, RF equipment, hardware/software integration, allowing effective support of infrastructure components, COTS hardware, and associated application software deployed on sites., • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to manage a daily meeting with the client and act as the face of the client organization on site in a professional manner., • Excellent analytical and reporting capabilities, ensuring accurate incident reports, clear system configuration records, and structured feedback to back-office and management stakeholders., • Strong ability to work both independently and as a team to solve problems, combined with the capacity to be very reactive to solicitations in time-sensitive operational contexts., • Be fluent in English language, enabling precise verbal and written communication with customer representatives, remote support teams, and internal stakeholders., • French and Arabic language are a plus, particularly for interaction with multilingual teams and end users across different sites., • 3+ years in field support or technical support roles in operational or customer-facing environment, with hands-on experience with electronic equipment, IT systems, radio communication systems., • Experience in Defense projects or critical infrastructure is preferred, and Experience in integrating and testing complex systems is a plus, demonstrating the ability to work with complex, multi-technology environments., • Valid driver's license (installation across 20 sites in UAE), and willingness to undertake many travels to different military sites as required by the role and project schedule., • Knowledge in defense expected, with the ability to position oneself appropriately in client discussions, provide structured reporting, and work autonomously for troubleshooting in sensitive environments.
