We are the internal recruitment partner for our client, a well‑established UK manufacturing organisation specialising in building products.\n\nWe are searching for an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong electrical background to join their on‑site engineering team. This is a hands‑on role, supporting a wide range of production machinery, facilities equipment, and new engineering projects across the factory.\n\nWorking as part of a small but highly skilled engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining machinery uptime, diagnosing faults, carrying out planned maintenance, and ensuring all equipment remains safe, reliable and efficient. \n\nResponsibilities:\n\nDiagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical faults on production machinery\nMaintain, service and modify equipment to improve safety, reliability and efficiency\nConduct planned maintenance and respond to urgent breakdowns\nWork on polystyrene cutting machines, CNC hot‑wire systems, sensors, switches and 3‑phase equipment\nPerform testing, commissioning and fault‑finding on plant and systems\nSupport installation and integration of new machinery\nProvide technical advice to production teams and recommend machinery improvements\nEnsure compliance with BS/EN standards, health & safety rules, and site procedures\nCarry out general site electrical work, including lighting and small equipment repairs\nContribute to lean manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement practicesThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:\n\nStrong electrical bias with experience working on 3‑phase systems, sensors, relays and industrial machinery\nConfident in diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults\nRelevant engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Electrical Engineering\n17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)\nNVQ Electrical qualification & City & Guilds (essential)\nGood mechanical understanding, including hydraulics and pneumatics\nFlexible and adaptable to new technologies and machinery\nExperience with lean manufacturing/5S (advantageous)\nWelding skills (advantageous)Working Hours & On Call:\n\nMonday-Friday: Shifts ranging from 6am until 10pm, working on a rotation basis: 1 week 06:00-14:30, 1 week 13:30-22:00 and 2 weeks 08:00-16:30\nOccasional Saturday morning shift: around once per month (06:00 - 12:00)\nOn‑call rota: 1 week in every 5-6 weeks, covering 16:30 - 22:00 (site close)\nOn‑call payment: £75 for weekdays and £150 for weekends (weekend call‑outs are very rare).\nOvertime is payable at time and a half.\nIf called out, an additional 1 hour of travelling time is paid\nOvertime at x1.5, OTE is estimated at £44,000-£46,000In return we are offering:\n\nSalary: £40,000, rising to £42,000 upon successful completion of 6‑month probation \n22 days of holidays (with 2 to be saved for Christmas shut down) + bank holidays Interested?
