Our highly qualified team of technicians ensures every client receives prompt, precise, and professional service. Role summary We are seeking a Dental Laboratory Assistant to support the production and manufacture of custom-made orthodontic appliances. You will work closely with our technical team, ensuring deadlines are met, quality standards are maintained, and customer satisfaction is achieved. This role is ideal for individuals with excellent manual dexterity and a creative eye for detail — those with experience in hands-on, detail-oriented work such as arts and crafts, hair styling, or similar creative trades may find their skills especially well-suited here. Full training will be provided. Key Responsibilities • Create accurate appliances following dentist/doctor prescriptions, • Manufacture a range of thermoformed appliances, including retainers, mouthguards, nightguards, and splints, • Prepare and process parts for the next stage of production, • Create stone/plaster models from impressions, • Trim models to required standards, • Operate handheld equipment such as handpieces, • Use vacuum formers, pressure formers, model trimmers, and polishing lathes, • Monitor and maintain stock levels, • Assist with various lab tasks to ensure smooth operations, • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work area Experience & Qualifications • No formal qualifications required, • No previous experience necessary — full training will be provided Personal Attributes • Strong attention to detail and precision in workmanship, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Effective communication skills, • Willingness to learn and adapt What we offer: • Opportunity for training, progression and continued development within Cardiff Ortho Lab and the wider ALS Dental group., • Excellent team environment in a modern and progressive laboratory., • Accrued Holiday Leave (plus bank holidays)., • Free car parking on-site., • Free access to:, • ALS Online Benefits Platform, • ALS Discount Scheme, • Health and Wellbeing Services, • ALS Academy for free CPD, training and education.
