Overview: Smart4Energy is proud to support a leading engineering and construction provider delivering complex electrical and instrumentation solutions for major energy and industrial projects across the UK. Role: Project Planner/Scheduler • Type: Staff (Permanent), • Location: Thornaby-on-Tees, Stockton-on-Tees Overview of duties: We are seeking an experienced Project Planner/Scheduler to deliver planning and scheduling activities on major projects. You will support the development of standardised project structures, manage and control baselines, and ensure key dates and timelines are met. This role involves providing stakeholders with accurate progress updates, project status, and performance reports. You will work closely with project teams to develop construction-phase schedules, monitor progress against baselines, and identify risks and variances. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential, along with proficiency in planning tools and data reporting. Key responsibilities: • Communicate with stakeholders to understand project objectives, scope, and constraints, • Develop project schedules for the construction phase in line with standard processes, • Support coordination and management of projects, • Gather information from stakeholders and prepare scheduling documentation (Basis of Schedule, Schedule Narrative), • Perform schedule updates and monitor progress against baselines, • Identify and assess schedule variances, changes, and potential risks, • Prepare and issue project status and performance reports, • Ensure integration of WBS/CBS, resource loading, and critical path analysis, • Apply forecasting, trending, and Earned Value Management (EVM) principles, • Support change management processes and integrate contract data into schedules What we are looking for: • Experience: 2–5 years in planning and scheduling roles, • Mandatory: HND, Level 5–7 Apprenticeship, or Degree in Engineering/Construction/Project Management (or equivalent experience), • Desirable: APM PMQ or AACE CCP/PSP in progress, • Experience with Primavera P6 (Basic to Intermediate), Microsoft Project, Power BI (Basic), Microsoft Office (Intermediate), • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement, • Ownership of deliverables and ability to manage workload efficiently
