Job Title: Specialist Speech and Language Therapist Job Location: Neptune School, Warmley (BS30) Salary: Between £38,005.50 - £40,501 FTE (pro‑rated for part‑time hours; role is 3–4 days per week based on a 40‑hour FTE). You’ll partner with our onsite Creative Arts Therapist to develop therapeutic approaches and attend multidisciplinary meetings with parents, Teachers, and external partners to ensure every child receives the tailored care they need. We’ll support your professional growth with clinical supervision, mentorship, and dedicated time to refine your skills, all within a supportive and nurturing environment. We’re also keen to hear from confident experienced Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists who are looking for a supportive step‑up into a Band 6 role and want to continue developing their career. A day in the life of a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will involve: • Taking a trauma informed approach to clinical work. You’ll work with a small caseload of pupils who will have varying Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, Learning disabilities and Autism. You’ll be able to do this through 1:1 support, classroom work and group sessions., • Taking an active role in the admissions process for new pupils, including helping to write pen portraits., • Working with the wider team to offer the best support to our pupils, including our onsite creative art therapists, teachers, and teaching assistants, and taking part in Multidisciplinary team meetings. This work may include supervisions, training, or taking part in projects related to the work we do., • Administration. Whilst doing all your great work with the pupils, we’ll need you to keep their records up to date and carry out all the administrative tasks you’d expect to come with this role. Don’t worry though, during the school holidays you can work from home so that you have the space to do this without it impacting the time you spend with the pupils. To be a successful Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll need: • A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, along with HCPC Registration and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language., • Great experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist., • The desire and confidence to run supervisions and offer training and support to other speech and language therapists., • Good IT skills – We’ll train you on how to use our systems, but it would help if you had a working understanding of using Microsoft packages like Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams., • A full driving licence. Whilst this role is based in a single location, there will be times that you need to attend meetings offsite which would require the use of a vehicle. Job Title: Teacher (SEND) Job Location: Oakwood Specialist College, Yate, BS37 5JB Salary: Between £30,014.40 and £37,003.20, per annum, based on 40 hours per week, 42.4 weeks of the year. You’ll get all the training and support you need to make sure our learners have the best experience possible. Whether it be curriculum development skills, seeking guidance from colleagues or working with our integrated therapies team. A day in the life of a Teacher will involve: • Leading classroom activities including planning, teaching, and assessing learning, particularly with ‘your’ class. This will involve a range of subjects and topics involved in pathways to adulthood and pastoral support., • Monitoring and recording progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes., • Working closely with learners, keeping them engaged, motivated, and inspired to reach their full potential., • Providing inspirational learning opportunities to learners, whether in the classroom or out in the community. You’ll work either 1:1 with learners or in small group settings to help them achieve their learning goals., • Working closely with Learning Support Assistants to direct them to effectively support the learners., • Being able to provide and develop a curriculum bespoke to each individual learner. You’ll need to be adaptable in your teaching style as some learners may focus on becoming more independent, while others aim to secure employment., • Being able to recognise when a learners progress is at risk, and where we could improve. You’ll need to be committed to seeking to understand each young person and their needs. To be a successful Teacher you’ll need: • Patience, compassion, and resilience—All of the learners you’ll support will be neurodiverse, which may impact their learning behaviour and communication needs., • Great communication skills – This is important in this role as you’ll be speaking to a lot of different people at different times, whether it be learners, parents, or other stakeholders. You’ll need to be able to contribute to a range of resources as well as share information effectively., • To be able to be involved in EHCPs, and shaping a curriculum based on the individual target outcomes of your learners., • To be flexible and adaptable. Not all days go to plan, you’ll need to be comfortable dealing with change., • A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of people with a wide range of needs.
