Hemma Social is a new independent family café and play space opening at 14 Tandy Place, East Village, Stratford, around 16–18 November 2026. Our daytime menu includes bowls, warm flatbreads, sandwiches, cheesecake and food for children. We need an experienced, hands-on café cook to take responsibility for the kitchen during their shift. You will plan and complete morning prep for the day, cook or finish menu items to our recipes, assemble and send out food orders during breakfast and lunch, and top up prep as demand changes. You will organise portions, labels, stock rotation and temperature checks; handle allergens carefully; wash up and keep the kitchen clean and ready for service. You will leave a clear handover and prepared components for colleagues serving outside your shift. You will work alongside the owner, café all-rounder and barista. We need someone comfortable preparing food independently in a compact kitchen and showing teammates the safe assembly steps they may help with. The owner keeps menu, purchasing and business decisions. You should have practical prep and cooking experience in a café, brunch kitchen, deli or similar food operation, sound food-safety and allergen knowledge, tidy working habits and availability for agreed weekend shifts. Pay: £16–£17 per hour depending on relevant experience, around 35–40 paid hours a week, mostly morning and daytime shifts including weekends. Paid pre-opening setup and training are planned before the 16–18 November opening. Planned customer hours are Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00, Saturday 08:30–18:00 and Sunday 08:30–16:00. The regular six-day rota and closed day are being finalised; your own shifts will be agreed in advance within your weekly hours. Please apply through JOB TODAY with your work history, availability, earliest start date and a short note about the food you have cooked and the prep/service you have handled independently. We can discuss reasonable interview adjustments.
