An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate interested in a substantive clinical oncology consultant post at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic clinical oncologist to join our well established, dedicated and supportive team. The successful candidate will join a team of 13 consultant oncologists supported by three specialty doctors and six clinical oncology trainees (ST3-ST7) to serve a population of 750,000. The department treats the full spectrum of malignant disease including breast, lung, lower and upper GI, haematology, gynaecology, urology, neuro-oncology, skin, and head and neck. The post will cover breast and one other tumour group. You will be primarily located at Queen’s Hospital, Romford, Essex where the Oncology department is based. • Clinical oncology management of breast malignancy, • Clinical oncology management of one other small tumour site., • New patient numbers approx. 170-200 per annum. This post is for an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist position in the East Mental Health & Wellness Team (MHWT-E), based at Beam Park Health Centre, 2 Halewood Way, Rainham, RM13 8QZ. This is a replacement, substantive, full-time post - 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) post with 7.5 Direct Clinical Contact activities (DCC) and 2.5 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). The postholder will be part of the Senior Psychiatrist on-call rota covering out of hours and weekends for Mental Health Services in NELFT. The on call will cover service delivery for Adults and Older Adults presenting with mental health problems. This is currently a 1:50 rota with a 3% Category A salary supplement. The trust has also a daytime (9am - 5pm) Section 136 rota, with an approximate frequency of one day every three months. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to adults with mental health needs who are registered with a GP Practice located in the eastern part of the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (plus a small number of patients who reside in that part of the Borough but whose GP is elsewhere). This roughly equates to residents of the Electoral Wards named East Brook, Alibon, Goresbrook, River and Village on the borough map in Section 3.1 below. The successful candidate will provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases. The consultant will be expected to provide guidance and supervision to the team, work directly with adult patients (and their families), and liaise as appropriate with other external mental health providers, and acute hospitals. You will join another full-time Adult Consultant Psychiatrists (Dr Louis Nel) in the East Team. There are opportunities for Consultants to take an active role in teaching both in terms of clinical work and curriculum delivery as well as delivering lectures and acting as examiners in the Clinical Examinations at QMUL. Consultant Psychiatrist Community CAMHS Eating Disorders Orchards Health Centre, Gascoigne Road Barking IG11 7RS 7 Programmed Activities (7 PAs) This post is for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, 7 Programmed Activities, in the All Age Eating Disorder Service, based at Orchards Health Centre, Gascoigne Road, Barking, IG11 7RS. This is a replacement substantive post of 7 Programmed Activities (PAs) with a ratio of 5.25 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) to 1.75 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). The purpose of the job description is to outline the level of responsibility and accountability of this post. This will ensure that all work undertaken by our staff is clearly identified and carried out under clear lines of accountability. A lot of transformation has taken place already and continues to take place within Community CAMHS and eating disorder services. This post is currently vacant, and we wish to recruit substantively to this post as soon as possible. The postholder will provide senior medical leadership and specialist medical input within the Eating Disorder Service, supporting high-quality assessment, formulation, diagnosis, and treatment planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to children and young people with eating disorders and associated mental health needs, across Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest. The successful candidate will provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases. The consultant will be expected to provide guidance and supervision to the team, work directly with children and young people, and their families, and liaise as appropriate with other external CAMHS mental health providers, local community paediatric services, and acute hospitals. You will work alongside another CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Arun Bhaskaran), an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist (Dr Marianne Hayward), and 1 Resident Doctor in higher training (in general adult psychiatry), within the service. There will also be the opportunity for the post holder to further develop links already established with the local acute trusts’ A&E departments and inpatient wards, to continually improve our services. The post holder will have a key role in liaising with Paediatric teams across the local acute trusts and co-ordinating care of patients during acute paediatric admissions. As the service is exclusively an outpatient service, the post holder will not hold an inpatient case load, but the post holder will work with specialist eating disorder inpatient units and generic Adolescent Units where patients are admitted, aiding smooth transition to different levels of care. We receive Year 4 medical students on clinical placement from Barts & The London School of Medicine, Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL). QMUL students can also request to do Student Selected Component (SSC) placements with us. There are opportunities for Psychiatrists within the team to take an active role in teaching both in terms of clinical work and curriculum delivery as well as delivering lectures and acting as examiners in the Clinical Examinations at QMUL. Psychiatrists in the team are also expected to offer shadowing opportunities for student nurses and new starters joining the team. The postholder will be part of the Senior CAMHS Psychiatrist on-call rota covering out of hours and weekends for Mental Health Services in NELFT. The on call will cover service delivery for Children and Adolescents presenting with mental health problems. The on-call rota is covered by the local community substantive CAMHS consultants and the two inpatient CAMHS consultants.
