Software Application Manager Location: South East London (on-site parking available) Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 Working Pattern: 4 days on-site (non-negotiable) | Fridays remote The Role This is a senior application ownership role within a large, operationally complex organisation where software systems are business-critical. You will be responsible for running and owning a portfolio of enterprise applications — ensuring they are stable, secure, fit for purpose, and aligned with how the business actually operates. This is not a development role and not a delivery/project management role. It’s a role for someone who wants clear accountability, authority, and long-term ownership of applications that matter. Overall Responsibility (Plain English) You are the key holder for applications. If an application: • isn’t working properly, • isn’t fit for purpose, • isn’t being supported correctly You’ll work between the business, suppliers, and internal IT teams to make sure applications are well run, well governed, and well understood. What You’ll Be Doing • Owning a portfolio of business-critical software applications, • Acting as the single point of accountability for how those systems perform, • Managing third-party vendors and SaaS providers, • Overseeing application lifecycle: onboarding, change, optimisation, and retirement, • Ensuring applications meet security, compliance, and operational standards, • Working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and priorities, • Making informed decisions around risk, cost, and usability The Profile That Fits This role suits someone who: • Has previously owned applications or application estates, • Is comfortable being accountable, not just involved, • Can deal confidently with suppliers and senior stakeholders, • Brings structure, clarity, and calm to complex environments, • Application Manager / Application Owner, • Systems Manager, • IT Service / Platform Manager, • 4 days per week on-site, • Friday remote working Package • Salary £50,000 – £55,000, • Stable, long-term role with real ownership, • Low bureaucracy, high trust This is a role for someone who wants to own systems, make decisions, and be trusted — not hide behind process or titles.
