Construction Design Manager Hybrid (Office, Site & One Day from Home) Salary: per annum £75,000 - £90,000 + Bonus + Vehicle + Excellent Benefits Location: Hybrid Mix of Office and Site Visits, with flexibility for one day remote Benefits Competitive salary of £75,000 - £90,000 per annum Discretionary performance bonus Company vehicle access with fuel card 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays Pension scheme On-site gym Employee Assistance Programme About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded Construction Design Manager to join a leading construction company and play a pivotal role in coordinating and driving the design process across a variety of high-quality projects. In this key position, youll take ownership of the design phase from concept through to completion, ensuring all design work is efficient, compliant, and aligned with project budgets, timescales, and objectives. Youll have a real impact on improving buildability, reducing risk, and maximising value across the portfolio. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the design process from initial concept to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure designs meet all regulations, codes of practice, and safety standards. Review and approve design proposals, drawings, and specifications, providing constructive feedback to ensure high-quality and practical solutions. Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance project outcomes. Act as the Building Regulations Principal Designer, ensuring compliance and safety throughout. Manage budgets and timelines related to design work, proactively resolving issues to keep projects on track. Maintain accurate documentation pre- and post-construction, including RFIs, design approvals, BREEAM, and handover materials such as O&M manuals and H&S files. Negotiate and agree consultant appointments, scopes, and fees as required. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: A degree in architecture, engineering, or a related discipline. At least 5 years experience in construction design management, with a strong understanding of design coordination and build processes. Experience in residential or mixed-use developments, with knowledge of apartment schemes being advantageous. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. Strong technical knowledge of building regulations, compliance, and construction methodologies. The ability to make informed, commercially sound design decisions that add value and mitigate risk.
