Role: Finance Manager Location: Remote, Manchester (hybrid) Type: Permanent Salary £60,000 - £70,000 + bonus, Private Health Medlock Partners are exclusively assisting our new client, a large international Distribution business with offices in the Manchester area as they look to appoint an ambitious Finance Manager on a permanent basis in a newly created role. Reporting to the UK Finance Director, the Finance Manager will oversee all financial operations within the business, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and profitability across all operational divisions. Key Responsibilities: Financial Management & Reporting • Be responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/local accounting standards., • Manage the company’s budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes., • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure efficient business operations., • Oversee and manage the annual financial audit, along with the preparation of all statutory accounts., • Ensure timely reconciliation of accounts and maintain an accurate general ledger. Operational & Cost Control • Analyse cost structures related to freight operations, customs brokerage, other revenue streams, • Collaborate with operations teams to improve cost efficiency and margin performance., • Oversee the performance of the outsourced AP and AR functions to drive both standardisation and efficiency in services received., • Act as point of contact for company administration including legal, insurance, property, and other services. Compliance & Governance • Act as company secretary for all required legal and statutory filings, • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, customs regulations, and corporate financial policies including submission of VAT returns and overseeing Corporate tax returns., • Oversee credit control and ensure timely collection of receivables., • Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions in accordance with company policies. Leadership & Strategy • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team., • Support senior management in strategic planning and business decision-making., • Provide financial insights for investment decisions, expansion opportunities, and operational initiatives., • Drive the implementation standardisation within finance, and operational finance processes. Qualifications & Experience Essential: • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA etc.) or final year active studier with significant accounting experience., • Minimum 5 years of finance experience, ideally in a role supporting non-financial management in the logistics, freight forwarding or related industries, • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards, • Experience and understanding of ERP systems and MS Office, including Excel., • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
