Our expertise covers drylining and ceilings, fire stopping, door installations, skirtings, and painting & decorating, with projects spanning schools, hospitals, offices, and commercial buildings. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a proactive Estimator to join our team and play a pivotal role in our pre-construction process. Role Overview The Estimator will take ownership of all estimating and pre-construction activities, from tender enquiry through to submission. This includes identifying new project opportunities, preparing accurate and competitive tenders, and working directly with the Managing Director to drive profitability and client satisfaction. This role combines strong commercial and technical understanding with relationship- driven communication, ensuring bids are delivered with value, professionalism, and clarity. Key Responsibilities Business Development & Client Engagement (Approx. 30%) • Re-engage with previous clients and contacts to explore repeat opportunities., • Build strong relationships with decision-makers across key target companies., • Attend face-to-face meetings, networking events, and industry functions., • Track and reconnect with former contacts who have moved within the industry., • Identify opportunities that align with the company’s specialist services and capabilities. Estimating & Tendering (Approx. 70%) • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for internal fit-out and refurbishment projects., • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to produce precise take-offs and pricing., • Tailor each submission to include project-specific insights, value engineering, and innovative delivery solutions., • Collaborate with internal teams to prepare supporting materials such as case studies, risk assessments, and credentials., • Ensure all tender content is clear, accurate, and client-focused., • Use Causeway 1 Estimating Software to produce professional tenders and cost plans., • Support the Managing Director in developing and refining pre-construction and business development strategies. Skills & Experience Required • Proven experience as an Estimator within the internal fit-out or refurbishment sector., • Strong knowledge of drylining, ceilings, fire stopping, joinery, and finishing trades., • Sound understanding of pre-construction processes, estimating, and cost planning., • Experience delivering projects in schools, hospitals, offices, and commercial refurbishments., • Proficiency in Causeway 1 Estimating Software (essential)., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust quickly., • Detail-oriented, organised, and commercially aware., • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a small, collaborative team. Desirable Attributes • Existing network of industry contacts and client relationships., • Experience producing tenders that include value engineering or innovative project delivery strategies., • Familiarity with client pre-qualification systems and supply chain platforms. Project Director As the Project Director you will lead the end-to-end planning, procurement, delivery, and commissioning of major water, energy and other utilities plants and associated infrastructure. • Ensure safe, compliant, on-time and on-budget outcomes., • Own the program P&L and portfolio outcomes., • Oversee internal and external project managers., • Support as the key senior interface to clients, regulators, and other public sector agencies. Key Responsibilities Include: • Strategy & Governance, • Program & Portfolio Management, • Financial Management & P&L Ownership, • Procurement, Tendering & Contracting, • Delivery & Construction Management, • Regulatory & Compliance, • Stakeholder & External Relations, • People Leadership & Performance Skills & Experience Required Essential • 10+ years delivering or managing utilities infrastructure, with 5+ years in leadership roles., • Proven track record in either water/wastewater regulated infrastructure or heat/cooling non-regulated infrastructure., • Strong communicator with senior stakeholders including client, regulator and other public sector bodies., • Strong commercial acumen: P&L management, design and build appointments and any associated claims/variations., • Experience in program management, cost management, risk & change management., • Regulatory familiarity with utilities networks such as drinking water standards, environmental permitting, planning approvals., • Health & Safety leadership and quality assurance experience.
