Reports to: Head of Services \n Location: Field-Based with regular attendance at Head Office and customer sites as required. \n \n Job Summary \n The Field Service & PDI Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and support of multifunctional print devices, IT-connected office equipment, and related technology solutions. The role combines field-based copier engineering, IT support skills, and Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) responsibilities to ensure equipment is prepared, configured, and deployed to the highest standards. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n Field Service Engineering \n\n • Install, service, maintain, and repair multifunctional printers, photocopiers, scanners, and associated office technology.\n, • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, software, and connectivity faults.\n, • Respond to customer service calls within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).\n, • Complete preventative maintenance visits to maximise equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.\n, • Accurately record service activity, parts usage, and customer interactions using company systems.\n, • Provide technical advice and user guidance to customers where required.\n\n \n IT & Network Support \n\n • Configure devices for network environments including TCP/IP, print drivers, scan-to-email, cloud services, and document management solutions.\n, • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues relating to printers and MFDs.\n, • Support integration with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, network folders, and secure print solutions.\n, • Configure and maintain firmware updates and software applications associated with managed print services.\n, • Liaise with customer IT departments and internal technical teams to resolve complex issues.\n\n \n Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) \n\n • Conduct full pre-delivery inspections on all equipment prior to customer installation.\n, • Build, configure, test, and quality-check devices to ensure readiness for deployment.\n, • Install firmware, software, network settings, and customer-specific configurations.\n, • Prepare delivery documentation and equipment records.\n, • Ensure all assets, accessories, and consumables are correctly allocated and packaged.\n\n \n Operational Support \n\n • Assist with equipment refurbishment, upgrades, and reconditioning projects.\n, • Support stock control and parts management activities.\n, • Assist in product demonstrations and technical evaluations when required.\n, • Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.\n\n \n Knowledge, Skills & Experience \n Essential \n\n • Previous experience as a photocopier, printer, or field service engineer.\n, • Good understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi networking.\n, • Experience configuring multifunctional devices in networked environments.\n, • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.\n, • Excellent customer service and communication skills.\n, • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.\n, • Full UK driving licence.\n\n Desirable \n\n • Experience with managed print solutions.\n, • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 environments.\n, • Experience with document management software.\n, • Manufacturer accreditations (e.g. Ricoh, Sharp, Konica Minolta, Canon, Kyocera, Xerox, HP or Epson).\n\n Person Specification \n\n • Customer-focused and professional\n, • Organised and detail oriented\n, • Positive and proactive approach\n, • Flexible and adaptable\n, • Team player with strong communication skills\n
