Kitchen Assistant \n Specialist School - Horsham \n Hours: 7am - 3pm, Monday to Friday Salary: £13 an hour \n We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join a friendly catering team within a specialist independent school in the Horsham area. \n The school provides education for children and young people aged 5-18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It prides itself on delivering a personalised, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where pupils are supported to achieve their full potential. The school is committed to the welfare, wellbeing, and success of every student. \n The Role \n As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the daily operation of the school kitchen, helping to prepare and serve nutritious meals for pupils and staff while maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments.\n, • Ensuring food is prepared and presented to a high standard.\n, • Maintaining cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas.\n, • Washing up and operating kitchen equipment safely.\n, • Following food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.\n, • Assisting with stock rotation and storage of deliveries.\n, • Working collaboratively with the wider catering team to provide an efficient service.\n\n About You \n We are looking for someone who: \n\n • Has previous experience within a catering, kitchen, hospitality, or food service environment.\n, • Holds a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (preferred).\n, • Has a good understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.\n, • Is organised, dependable, and able to work effectively in a busy environment.\n, • Demonstrates a positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills.\n, • Enjoys contributing to a supportive school community.\n\n What the School Offer \n\n • Term-time working pattern, offering a healthy work-life balance.\n, • A friendly and supportive working environment.\n, • Opportunities for training and development.\n, • The chance to make a meaningful contribution to the daily experience of pupils and staff.\n\n Safeguarding \n The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
