Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coach (Care Experienced Students & Young Carers) Salary: £26,780 – £29,094 (pro rata to academic year start) Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only (40 weeks) Overview Our client is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding and Wellbeing Coach to provide targeted pastoral and wellbeing support to care experienced students and young carers. This role focuses on removing barriers to learning, improving wellbeing, and helping young people aged 16+ develop resilience, confidence, and the skills needed to succeed in education. Working as part of a wider safeguarding and student support team, the postholder will deliver 1-to-1 interventions, coordinate support plans, liaise with external agencies, and ensure high-quality safeguarding practices are maintained across all activities. Responsibilities • Manage a caseload of learners, prioritising care experienced students and young carers., • Deliver 1-to-1 coaching and group sessions aimed at improving wellbeing, mental health, resilience, and coping strategies., • Advocate for students to ensure equitable access to services, support, and resources., • Coordinate and lead Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings and work closely with Virtual Schools and external partners., • Maintain accurate and compliant learner records, monitor attendance, follow up on absences, and provide required data to external agencies., • Support smooth transitions into college and promote engagement in enrichment activities., • Build strong, trust-based relationships with carers, social workers, safeguarding leads, curriculum teams, and support staff., • Assist with bursary applications and financial support processes., • Contribute to safeguarding meetings and ensure compliance with all safeguarding, GDPR and data protection policies., • Demonstrate strong understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and adapt support accordingly., • Experience working with young adults (16+) and understanding the challenges they may face., • Experience liaising with external agencies within an educational or support setting., • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including adapting strategies to meet individual needs., • Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge., • Ability to positively engage disengaged individuals and encourage sustainable behavioural change., • Education to Level 2 or above in Literacy and IT., • Strong administrative and organisational skills., • Commitment to inclusion, equality, and removing barriers to participation., • Access to on-site facilities including gym, sports hall, fitness classes, café services, osteopathy, and day nursery (where applicable)., • Free online qualifications., • Free on-site parking., • Blue Light Discount eligibility (where applicable)., • Short walking distance to public transport links.
