School Business Manager (Grade 7) \n Role Overview \n We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and professional School Business Manager to join our welcoming and inclusive primary school community. This is a full-time (37 hours per week), temp-to-perm opportunity starting in October. \n Working hours are 8:30am until 4pm or 4.30pm with a maximum of 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. \n This is a key, standalone role within the school office. The successful candidate will be the sole administrative lead, taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the office alongside oversight of basic HR administration, premises coordination, school finance processes. \n About the School \n Our school is a vibrant and nurturing community, committed to ensuring every child feels safe, valued and inspired to achieve their full potential. \n Key Responsibilities \n School Office Leadership \n\n • Act as the sole member of the school office, taking full ownership of administrative operations\n, • Manage and prioritise all office functions efficiently, ensuring the school runs smoothly on a daily basis\n, • Serve as the first point of contact for parents, visitors and external agencies, providing a professional and welcoming front-of-house service\n\n Administrative & Operational Support \n\n • Provide administrative support to the senior leadership team and wider staff\n, • Maintain accurate pupil records, attendance data and statutory documentation\n, • Manage correspondence, emails and telephone enquiries effectively\n, • Coordinate school events, trips, visits and communications\n\n HR Administration \n\n • Ensure staff records are accurate, up to date and compliant with safeguarding and employment requirements\n\n Finance Responsibilities \n\n • Support and oversee school finance processes, including purchase orders, invoicing, budget tracking and reconciliation\n, • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure financial procedures are followed accurately\n\n Communication & Relationships \n\n • Build strong, respectful relationships with pupils, staff, parents and stakeholders\n, • Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment aligned with the school’s values\n, • Support effective communication between school and families\n\n Compliance & Systems \n\n • Ensure systems are maintained in line with school policies, safeguarding and GDPR requirements\n, • Support data management, reporting and internal systems\n, • Assist in implementing school procedures and policies\n\n Person Specification \n Essential Criteria \n\n • Proven experience in an administrative role (school experience desirable)\n, • Ability to independently manage a busy and varied workload\n, • Strong organisational and time management skills\n, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills\n, • High level of accuracy and attention to detail\n, • Competent in IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office and MIS systems)\n, • Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding responsibilities\n\n Desirable \n\n • Experience in school administration, HR or finance\n, • Knowledge of education systems and processes\n\n What We Offer \n\n • A supportive and collaborative working environment\n, • Opportunity to take ownership of a key, business-critical role within the school\n, • A school culture built on respect, inclusion and ambition for all \n, • The chance to make a real impact within a caring and community-focused environment \n, • Clear pathway from temporary to permanent employment\n\n Key Details \n\n • Start Date: October 2026\n, • Hours: 37 per week \n, • Contract Type: Term time only \n, • Grade: 7\n\n
