Nelson Permanent Placements are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Assistant to support a busy HR department across national teams. This is a varied, generalist role, and ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured environment whilst also taking on new responsibilities over time. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a smooth employee lifecycle, whilst contributing to a collaborative and fast-paced working environment. The key responsibilities of this role as a HR Assistant: • Supporting onboarding processes, including induction scheduling and employee lifecycle administration, • Creating and maintaining HR e-files for all new starters, • Preparing HR documentation, including contracts and offer letters, • Coordinating interviews and managing recruitment administration, • Managing employee training records and ensuring certifications are kept up to date, • Maintaining accurate HR records and ensuring compliance (right to work checks, DBS checks, licences), • Handling telephone and email enquiries from employees and stakeholders, • Updating and maintaining HR systems, databases, and records, • Supporting policy updates and internal HR processes, • Assisting with HR reporting such as headcount, absence, and turnover metrics Qualifications and skills of a HR Assistant: • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HR role, • CIPD qualification (desirable), • Experience in a facilities management company (desirable), • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail, • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, • Clear written and verbal communication skills, • Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook, • Comfortable using HR systems and databases, • Ability to work flexibly and manage multiple tasks to deadlines, • A proactive and team-oriented approach, • Interest in working within a fast-paced, national environment, • Additional European languages (advantageous but not essential) The employment package for a HR Assistant: • Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on experience and certifications, • Permanent, full-time position, • Hybrid working: 3 days office-based, 2 days working from home, • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm, • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, • Company pension scheme, • Immediate start available
