Job description As Senior Data Engineer you will use your experience and subject matter expertise to collaboratively design, deliver and manage robust, resilient data systems, complex data flows and data products data for analytics, business intelligence (BI) and information services. You will collaborate across functional areas to design and deliver Data Engineering solutions as part of agile teams. You will be a recognised expert in Data Engineering, with practical experience that enables you to provide support and guidance to teams. You will assist the Lead Data Engineer in opportunity discovery and solution development, coordinating teams in the development of technical prototypes and production-ready solutions. Activities may include problem discovery, research of new technologies and techniques, prototyping and implementing pre-Discovery solutions. You will support the on-going development and improvement of Data Engineering solutions in production. Location Croydon, London (region), CR0 2AQ : Coventry, West Midlands (England), CV1 2WT : Plymouth, South West England, PL6 5WS Person specification To be successful in this role, it is essential you have the following:- • Experience of communicating between the technical and non-technical: you can communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, support and host discussions within a multi-disciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics and be an advocate for the team externally whilst managing differing stakeholder perspectives., • Experience of data analysis and synthesis: you can undertake data profiling and source system analysis and present clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of the data., • Experience of the data development process: design, build and test data products that are complex or large scale and build teams to complete data integration services., • Experience of data innovation: you can understand the impact on the organisation of emerging trends in data tools, analysis techniques and data usage., • Experience of data integration design: you can select and implement the appropriate technologies to deliver resilient, scalable and future-proofed data solutions., • Experience of data modelling: you can produce relevant data models across multiple subject areas, explain which models to use for which purpose, understand industry-recognised data modelling patterns and standards, and when to apply them and compare and align different data models., • Experience of problem management: you can initiate and monitor actions to investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems, effectively consult specialists where required, determine the appropriate resolution and assist with its implementation and determine preventative measures., • Experience of programming and build (data engineering): you can use agreed standards and tools to design, code, test, correct and document moderate-to-complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations, collaborating with others to review specifications where appropriate.
