About NEP Join one of the UK’s most exciting and pioneering projects - the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) is developing onshore and offshore infrastructure needed to transport CO2 from carbon capture projects across Teesside and the Humber - collectively known as the East Coast Cluster - to secure storage under the North Sea. The infrastructure is crucial to achieving net zero in the UK’s most carbon intensive industrial regions.This is a first-of-its-kind, utterly unique and extremely exciting start-up organisation. NEP is in an incorporated joint venture established solely to develop and operate CO2 transportation and storage infrastructure on behalf of the NEP Shareholders - BP, Equinor and Total Energies. Your new role The Financial Controller will play a key role in delivering NEP’s financial reporting, statutory compliance, and internal control activities. Working within a small, high-performing team, the role ensures that NEP meets its obligations as a regulated incorporated joint venture delivering nationally significant carbon capture and storage infrastructure.The position is central to maintaining accurate, timely financial information and supporting the wider business with insight, governance, and strong financial discipline. The role works closely with the Senior Financial Controller and acts as a key interface with project, cost control, technical teams, and outsourced service providers.This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the building of NEP’s finance capability from the ground up in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Key deliverables: - • Financial Reporting and Statutory Compliance, • Internal Control and Governance, • Business Partnering and Analytical Support, • Financial Operations, • Continuous ImprovementWhat you'll need to succeed, • Qualified accountants with 5+ years qualified experience (ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA, or equivalent)., • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience with statutory reporting under IFRS., • Experience in financial reporting, internal controls and managing end-to-end monthly financial reporting, • Strong analytical capability with excellent attention to detail., • Demonstrable experience preparing IFRS statutory accounts and leading audits., • Proven ability to work with ambiguity, using commercial judgement and initiative to drive solutions., • Strong influencing and communication skills, with confidence engaging across multiple teams., • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver at pace., • Be part of a groundbreaking project that will transform both the UK’s energy landscape and the local Tees Valley community., • Work in a dynamic start-up environment with significant investment and growth plans., • Collaborate with industry leaders and government stakeholders., • Modern offices in central Darlington, close to the train station and with free on-site parking., • Flexible & hybrid working pattern, • The Financial Controller will be expected to demonstrate NEP’s values in all aspects of their work:, • Safety - Protecting people, assets, and the environment., • Care - Supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive working culture., • Integrity - Acting with honesty, professionalism and discretion., • Collaboration - Building strong relationships within the team, with our shareholders and with regulators.
