They will need strong technical expertise in highway legislation, design standards, construction practices and health and safety, alongside excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. The role demands someone who can work independently, manage competing priorities, analyse complex issues, and engage confidently with a wide range of audiences including developers, elected members, and the public. High levels of IT literacy, effective organisation and planning skills, and the ability to build constructive working relationships are essential, with attributes such as initiative, flexibility, tact, and a collaborative approach. The Role The Senior Development Infrastructure Officer will oversee and coordinate developer-led highway infrastructure schemes from planning consent through to adoption. You will act as the primary point of contact for developers, contractors, designers, and stakeholders, ensuring infrastructure obligations secured through planning agreements are delivered effectively and in accordance with legal and technical standards.
